The Refugee Team of Flood Church held crafts and other fun programs for elementary-aged kids at Bridge of Hope in City Heights for their free clothing store program on May 28 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The church’s announcement noted that this is an excellent chance for life groups to serve together.
Refugee: Local Team
The team’s section of the church’s website noted that Refugee Local Team mainly centers on helping the refugee community in San Diego. The group conducts training, tutoring, and other programs.
Flood Groups
As the church announced, the said event would be an excellent opportunity for all small groups to gather and serve in their community. Meanwhile, Flood Groups are chances to meet and fulfill the church’s mission of loving God, one another, and their neighbor, as posted on the church’s Group page.
Throughout the week, these small groups meet depending on their set schedule. Small groups are designed for particular age groups, including women, men, college and young adults, and elders 50 years and above. They also added that they have groups for a multigenerational group.
Bridge of Hope
With its mission to be passionate about empowering families through transition, the Bridge of Hope San Diego provides three primary services.
According to the organization’s website, they held New Family Wednesday which is a one-time program where families could choose some pieces of furniture depending on the inventory.
They selected some items from their kitchen department. Then the organization would give out bedding, bathroom stuff, clothing, and food.
Aside from that, every Friday, they have Friday food distribution. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The group has a large-scale food distribution that gives different kinds of healthy food. The website noted that they welcome everyone but would need a membership card from Bridge of Hope would make for them.
They informed those interested that they would need to present the card every time they received food. The website added that these cards would have a schedule for them to come any Friday. They noted that having a schedule would keep them from waiting a long time.
Moreover, the said organization holds a Saturday Community Day every second and fourth month. They said they welcome everyone who wants to shop in their clothing closet. They also provide food distribution.

Getting Involved
Bridge of Hope SD revealed that they provide food to about 1 500 families. Nearly 500 adults and children go to their clothing closets every month. They also offer many benefits from their resources, as posted in the Get Involve section.
As for the volunteer opportunities, they noted that they always needed help from those interested in occasionally or regularly committing to serving. They added that whatever skill they have has a place in making their efforts. Some of the volunteers they need include handyman and yard work. They said they need drivers with good records to assist them in picking up furniture and food.
