Flood Church asks members to support organization helping refugees

Flood Church asks its congregation to bring the donations needed for the refugees until July 31, Sunday.

The church’s Facebook post announced their last call for members to bring sheets, blankets, and pillows to help their refugee team. They added that their team works with the Bridge of Hope SD organization.

According to their post, Bridge of Hope is a non-profit group committed to empowering families amidst their adjustments.

Flood Church’s Refugee Team

Flood Church created specific groups to let its members be involved in various advocacies to help their community. 

One of the teams at Flood Church is the Refugee Team. As posted on its webpage, this group centers its work on helping the refugee community in San Diego County. The team offers mentoring programs to the refugees, as further explained on the website.

The refugee group also provides tutorial services and holds events to achieve their goal, as added on the website.

Serving People in Transition 

According to the Eye of A Needle website, Bridge of Hope centers its mission on helping the people in transition or the refugees in San Diego County. The website also noted that the group works with families suffering from domestic violence and homeless individuals.

As further explained on the website, Bridge of Hope helps seniors suffering from crises. Besides, they revealed that the group is also assisting single parents. According to them, Bride of Hope provides food to nearly 1300 families monthly.

Building Community Center

The same website revealed that one of the significant needs of their clients is transitional housing. The website further explains that the homeless population in San Diego is increasing. 

Bridge of Hope aims to build a community center where its staff can conduct classes. The organization could also create programs for children and teenagers through this center, as posted on the website. 

According to the organization, they could also create a computer lab and hold special programs for their neighborhood once the center is built.

Challenges Due to Poverty

In addition, they noted that families are suffering every single day to have food on their table because of poverty. The website added that these people could not afford a bed, shoes, or diapers. Parents could not buy school supplies for their children, as mentioned on the website.

The website stated that the Bridge of Hope assists these individuals with their daily needs.

Meanwhile, the website also revealed that other social service agencies are also helping their clients and connecting with them four or five times a week. Some agencies provide furniture, clothing, and food. 

Working with Other Agencies

Some agencies working with the Bridge of Hope are Jewish Family Services and YWCA, as posted on the website. They also added that the San Diego Rescue Mission and other safe houses are also part of the initiatives. 

The website explains that these organizations work together to shelter domestic violence victims.

According to the same website, Bridge of Hope always welcomes volunteers. They mentioned that they could help with their outreach programs, such as giving out food and clothing. The website posted that Bridge of Hope distributes food and clothes every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
