Immaculate Conception Parish members are joining the “We Were Born Ready” Movement, a state-wide advocacy to strengthen, equip, and mobilize Catholics to help women, children, and families.
The church’s bulletin announced that all Catholic churches are invited to participate in the Catholic Legislative Network. This movement is about social justice concerns.
As further noted, the movement focuses on women in challenging situations. Mainly they center their attention on unexpected pregnancies.
We Were Born Ready
The We Were Born Ready website revealed that its mission is to fill the gap to support vulnerable individuals in society. These people include women, children, and families. As added on the website, Catholics want to keep these people in need in their dignity as children of God.
Besides, the movement wants to emphasize that Catholic church members are born ready.
According to the same website, the California Bishops released a statement. It has a vision of helping women, children, and families. As further noted on the website, the bishops issued this statement on Jan. 22, Saturday.
The website also revealed that Catholics have cared for the most in-need individuals. They have been doing it for more than 2000 years. As added on their website, the Catholic churches established the first hospitals and orphanages. They also found social safety networks.
They added that parishioners also give out food, drink, and clothing to show that they are born-ready. Besides, the website posted that the movement provides shelter and health care services. Catholics also visit the sick and prisoners to bring comfort.
Pledge of Unity
The movement’s homepage revealed that the Catholic bishops of California have agreed to unite. It is for their state’s life-affirming pregnancy homes, centers, and clinics.
The pledge could create an accessible statewide network for women with challenging pregnancies. It is also for those in the early years of parenthood, as mentioned on the website.
Meanwhile, the website posted that they have a One Number-One Solution (ONE) program. It gives a simple method to reach out to California's abundant security net resources. They noted that this program is supported by individuals of faith and goodwill across the state.
Getting Involved
As posted in another section, those interested in joining the movement are encouraged to pray. The campaign noted that people could download and pray with their “Our Lady of Guadalupe” prayer card.
The same website added that people could pray for their call on how they could help in serving the women, children, and families. Those interested could also conduct a Holy Hour at their church, as posted on the website.
Besides, We Were Born Ready stated that people could advocate helping in their purpose. They could take action by connecting with their representatives. They added that they could support the movement by fighting against abortion expansion bills.
They urged Catholics to support expanded paid leave and hotel vouchers for homeless pregnant women. They could help advocate better family support for incarcerated mothers, as posted on the website.
The website posted that individuals could share pregnancy resources on social media. This activity is to raise awareness of the issue. They could also share information about the “Title IX rights.” This law is for pregnant and parenting students with university students they know.
