Foothills Christian Church hosted a parent orientation night to learn more about how they work with American Heritage Girls (AHG) on Monday, Aug. 29, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the church’s kids' room.

The church's website mentioned that it is working on various badges and helping in community outreach. According to the website, members of Foothills Christian Church gather every Monday throughout the school year to help with AHG’s mission.

The same website explained that AHG is designed for girls ages five to eighteen. It is a leadership development program that centers on Jesus as further revealed on the website.

They said that the program aims to create women of honor by serving God, family, and neighbors. The church also posted that AHG serves the country.

Character Development

The AHG website revealed that a community of parents wished to have a scout-type character development program rooted in faith. So in 1995, they started AHG for their daughters. They said that AHG girls all over the country and worldwide are getting involved in their badge activities and service projects.

Besides, members are joining leadership programs and outdoor activities. AHG stressed that they focus on giving Christian values in all their activities. They said they involve families as well.

Currently, the website emphasizes that Trailblazer membership helped them reach 15 nations. They said that there are Troops in every state and these countries. Besides, various Christian churches also represent AHG as a charter organization, as mentioned on the website.

More importantly, AHG acknowledges that they have thousands of workers around the country. As the website added, these volunteers assist girls in maturing in their faith and nurturing a servant's heart.

According to AHG’s website, girls belonging to its programs enjoy outdoor activities. They noted that they were having more fun than they expected.

Christian-based Programs

The AHG programs focus on giving a direct Christian approach that offers many opportunities for girls of various ages. They also depend on their system depending on the girls' abilities. As further explained, they introduce new skills and experiences to the girls participating in their programs.

AHG added that they host leadership development and more chances for them to have a closer connection with God. They explained that their programs are flexible in dealing with the growth and changes of the girls.

The same website highlighted that AHG Program Emphases are used for girls to have a well-developed experience. They stressed that those who avail of their program would be servant leaders who follow Jesus.

Those who have completed their program could grow as women with honor and integrity, the website reveals. They added that girls could grow up being rational and dependent on Jesus. As posted on the website, girls under AHG’s programs are more likely to be competent.

As further revealed on the website, five levels are designed for various ages. They mentioned that these levels addressed the girls’ mental, physical, and spiritual needs. AHG also said that their programs enrich girls' emotional needs.
