Grace Church San Diego invites men to join a safe but challenging experience at the Men of Grace Conference to learn and motivate each other to embrace biblical masculinity from June 24 to June 25.
The church announcement mentioned that this event would be an opportunity for men members to accept the responsibility to lead, protect, and provide. They would also be participating in times of worship and prayer.
Men would also have the chance to bond and build their team through games and small group discussions.
Besides, participants would listen to teaching related to their topic. Afterward, the church prepared games, competitions, and videos. The website said the conferences would be a meal sharing and celebrations.
The church also posted that the said gathering would occur in the evening on Friday, at 6 p.m, while on Saturday, the program would begin at 9 a.m.
There would be a registration fee of $25, the website added.
Men’s Fellowship & Support Group
Meanwhile, as posted in their Men's Fellowship section, the church also conducts a men’s support group. It is a small gathering of male members to encourage each other with their obstacles. This program also teaches them how to manage their situations in healthy ways. The website noted that men share their experiences and motivate others to become better men.
Every Wednesday at 7 p.m, they learn God’s word and discuss practical applications to help them mature as a man of God. They added that they help each of them in their daily journey with Jesus.
Meaning of Manhood
The Desiring God website revealed the definition of manhood by Phillip Holmes. He highlighted that Jesus’s life shows true masculinity. He said Jesus taught people to love their neighbor and pray for their enemies (Matthew 5:44).
The website noted that it is not difficult for people to sacrifice and act selflessly to those people we feel are deserving of their affection, love, and resources. But authentic manhood is shown when a man freely and selflessly sacrifices for the undeserving, as the website stated.
More importantly, they mentioned that real men freely give. Most people have a big difference between what they say and do. But as individuals see, Jesus’ life manifests His teachings entirely and flawlessly.
The website said that, unlike people, Jesus understood the effects of His teaching better than anyone.
He would never compromise on personal comfort and convenience.
Another thing to note is that authentic manhood is a complicated and uncomfortable calling. Regardless of a man’s status, the role of leadership God has given men is not a chance to be served but a calling to work sacrificially.
Holmes mentioned that Christian manhood might seem undesirable and even worthless at times. Because the world could give immediate gratification; financially, emotionally, and sexually, he emphasized that genuine men deny themselves carnal satisfaction for true joy in Jesus.
Holmes added that if they are not serving their community selflessly and sacrificially, whether they are married or single, they are not fully living in biblical manhood.
