Grace Point Church will hold a potluck for its members over 50 on Sunday, Nov. 20, in Room 1B.

The church posted that the event is for the Life After 50 (LAF) group, but added they will also welcome family and guests. They added that it would be a great way to have fun and fellowship with others.

Besides, they stated that participants could bring any food to share, stating it does not have to be a “Thanksgiving dish.”

The church also asked members to volunteer to prepare and clean up the program.

In another section, the LAF ministry mentioned that they center its mission on creating a community in this stage of their lives. They explained that they meet to express their journey with the Lord.

At the same time, their gathering gives them fun in having fellowship, food, and friendship, as revealed on the website.

At LAF ministry, they said that members are given a chance to be motivated and encouraged others in the group.

Moreover, the website stressed that they do various activities such as enjoying beach bonfire fellowship and line dancing.

Other Programs for Seniors

Grace Point Church also offers other programs for its senior members. The other page mentioned that they offer a Senior Active Ministry (SAM). The church allows its senior members to join Memory Cafe in this ministry.

They noted that seniors gather every second and fourth Friday of the month to remember, socialize, and discover something new. Through this ministry, the elders could keep their brains active because they enjoy the activities in this supportive group.

Role of Elders

According to the Uba website, elder members play a crucial role in the church. They revealed that senior adults are essential to the health and programs of the church.

They said that an active senior adult ministry navigates a place where older male and female members could be intensive about reproducing themselves with the younger church members.

In addition, the website emphasized that it is apparent in the Bible that the congregation should not only respect senior members because of their age. But, they said they should be honored because they play a crucial role in the church.

Need for Senior Adults

The same website explained that elders had gained wisdom through their experience. They said that younger generations could learn from the failures of elders in terms of their spiritual journey.

They noted that they could avoid those pitfalls to be more successful in the ministry.

Moreover, the website revealed that senior members are more suitable for handling some church programs than younger generations. They explained that aging adults have more time and life experience.

In addition, older members most likely have a vast connection within the community than young adults. They said they have a broader family, businesses, and friends network.

The website emphasized that Senior members could still produce in old age and bear healthy and green fruits.

More importantly, the Uba website stated that many senior adults have stories of faith in God’s goodness. They could pass down the legacy of their belief to younger families who needs encouragement, as further explained.
