Park Hill Church continued the series on the Book of Revelation with Guy Gray on Sunday, Nov. 13.

The church’s Facebook page noted that the guest speaker had the honor of planting and leading River West Church for more than 30 years. They posted that Gray is passionate about going with other pastors and churches in the U.S. and worldwide.

Moreover, they highlighted that the pastor finished Western Seminary, teaching pastoral cohort in Biblical Literature for Christian Leadership.

They mentioned that Gray helps improve a leadership program for pastors and leaders in Yangon, Myanmar.

Responding to Calling

According to the River West Church website, Gray, his wife, Maureen, and their three kids responded to the call to come and shepherd the tiny new church plant. As further explained, the River West Church began in 1989 from a small group of Believers.

In addition, they noted that they prayed that God would change their lives and community uniquely. They stated that God still answers their request until now.

The website revealed that from a small prayer group, they began to grow into a new, non-denominational Christian Church. As pastor Gray accepted to lead the church, their story had a prayerful beginning of God’s grace and love at work in many lives.

Baton of Leadership

The same website mentioned that River West was a mobile church for more than 10 years. They said that they set up auditoriums and school cafeterias in Southwest Portland.

Then through the years, they grew as a community and had a permanent place in Lake Oswego, as added on the website.

More importantly, the church noted that Gray gave the baton of leadership to their current senior pastor, Adam McMurray, in 2018. They emphasized that the River West Church’s mission and passion did not change despite the transition.

The church stressed that they are creating a community of Jesus for the world.

Book of Revelations

The Insight of Living Ministries website revealed that John is the author of the book of Revelations. They noted that the Scripture mentioned his name four times throughout the book.

As further explained, the Believers had discovered affirmation from unknown sources that John is the book's author. They said that Apostle John had been exiled to Patmos Island by the authorities because of preaching the gospel in Asia.

Moreover, they revealed that as part of Roman traditions, they dropped the apostle into a vat of boiling oil. However, John did not die and instead killed him on the barren rock of Patmos, as further mentioned on the website.

More importantly, the Insight of Living Ministries website said that the book’s name, “Revelation,” is rooted in the Greek word for an apocalypse. They said that it means unveiling or a disclosure of something as yet not revealed to others.

The website emphasized that the book’s title is suitable because it is an exciting work to reveal future events.

Value of Revelations

According to the same website, Revelation offers the most vivid biblical picture of the happenings of the tribulation and dealing with the challenging times.

They explained that tribulation would be the moment of judgment and suffering for those left on earth. They revealed that those who did not believe in Jesus would suffer after the rapture.
