The Boundaries Class at Journey Community Church started March 1. Classes will continue until May 31. Journey Community Church holds the classes from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Drawing the Line, Boundaries Class
As shared on its website, Journey Community Church reaches out to people who have problems understanding boundaries or identifying proper boundaries. According to the church, healthy relationships and sound living depend on keeping effective personal boundaries.
However, many do not know where and how to begin. The Boundaries class is designed to help individuals learn how to say no, set limits, and still be loving. It seeks to help participants control their lives and prevent others from taking advantage of them.
This Boundary Class will provide insights, exercises, and spirited group discussion. Such discussion can significantly improve the quality of an individual’s relationship in every life aspect, including family, friendship, church, workplace, and marriage.
The class will utilize the book Boundaries When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of Your Life. This New York Times bestseller is written by Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend.
Recovery Groups at Journey
According to its website, Celebrate Recovery happens at Journey Community Church. The group meets every Friday at 6:30 p.m. As shared on the page, this serves as a place for people to participate in the community. Additionally, to celebrate the Lord’s healing power in their lives.
This recovery is made possible through the 12 Steps and 8 recovery principles. These steps and principles enable those struggling with addiction of any form to experience “being changed.” Moreover, the participants welcome this change by sharing their experiences, hopes, and strength.
Celebrate Recovery also allows participants to welcome God’s grace and helps them in solving life problems. Through working and applying Biblical principles, they begin to grow spiritually.
Then, they become free from addictive, dysfunctional, and compulsive behaviors. Consequently, they experience peace, serenity, joy, and a deeper relationship with others and the Lord.
Care Groups
Aside from Boundary Class and Celebrate Recovery, the Care Groups also include Divorce Care and Moms of LGBTQ. Care Groups help people discover trust and follow the Lord through their challenging times. Moreover, they connect with others for support and encouragement.
Divorce Care
As shared on the website, Divorce Care happens on Mondays every 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. It is a 13 – week study program that helps men and women navigate the difficult times of separation and divorce. The program provides practical, candid advice about spiritual, emotional, and financial challenges during these times.
Moms of LGBTQ
Mothers with children in the LGBTQ community organized Moms of LGBTQ support groups. According to the church, it is a safe environment for support, encouragement, and acceptance for mothers by moms walking in this journey.
This group has no curriculum and no agenda, as stated on the website. Its focus is on prayer, education, and respect.
