In another section, Journey Community Church revealed that they had collected 1,642 units and reached out to 4,926 lives in the past 18 years.

As further stated, San Diego Blood Mobile would be at the church’s parking lot to conduct the blood drive.

Moreover, the website emphasized that as of now, there is a  shortage of all blood types. Also, based on the CDC’s recent guidance as of July 28, 2021, San Diego Blood Bank mandates to have more staff.

According to the guideline, the church needs more volunteers, donors, contractors, and guests to wear a face covering. They noted that regardless of their vaccination, they should wear face masks before entering their facilities or while donating blood.

Behind Blood Donations

The same website posted that every blood donation from the church’s blood drive on May 8 will proceed to Mark Kohlenberg, a long-time friend of Journey Community Church. The church is glad to announce that this is their third blood drive to help him with his expenses for his many blood transfusions.

In addition, the church mentioned that a lot of blood transfusions are a crucial part of Kohlenberg’s treatment against Leukemia.

More importantly, they stated that the donated blood would also be for Colton, a young boy diagnosed with Very High-Risk B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when he was 14 months old.

The website shows he has had many life-saving blood transfers in the last two months. They emphasized that the boy has a difficult road ahead but is very strong.

Another nine-year-old named Greyson would be benefited from the said blood drive. The church mentioned that he had an inborn congenital heart defect.

They said that he was a cheerful, energetic little man of God.
