Kairos Church will hold its annual Christmas cookie exchange on Sunday, Dec. 18, to celebrate the season.

The church’s website called on individuals to register and bake two to three dozen cookies to share with the congregation. They will welcome those with or without experience to participate in the program.

Besides, Kairos Church’s hospitality team would offer everyone hot drinks, as posted on the website.

Baking Cookies

According to the church’s website, participants should put their cookies in the kitchen before the service by 9:45 a.m. They also reminded them to provide signage for all the cookies if they used nuts in their products.

In addition, they stated that there are a lot of members who have severe nut allergies, including the kids. The church also noted that participants could bring platters to display their cookies.

The hospitality team members could arrange the cookies on the platters for them, as further explained on the website. The church reminded them to label their plates or containers and be sure to get them after the cookie exchange.

Benefits of Baking

The Huffpost website revealed that baking has a lot of benefits that could be good for the soul and the mind. They explained that it gives more benefits than filling up the stomach with delicious sugar, butter, and royal icing.

As further mentioned, baking makes people less stressed by trying to focus on the task at hand. As added on the website, they should be aware of measuring the ingredients or kneading the dough.

The website revealed that baking could decrease the signs of anxiety. Cloe Tejada noted on the website that she finds punching dough and watching the stand mixer whip butter and sugar very relaxing and satisfying.

Moreover, the website stressed that baking goods could make people happier. They noted that scientists had proven the anecdotal findings that the act of baking or cooking makes individuals joyful.

According to the Journal of Positive Psychology, people who do small, creative things, often baking and cooking, could feel more at ease and happy, as revealed on the website.

In addition, Melani Denyer, founder of the Depressed Cake Shop, told BBC News that many individuals bake when they feel sad. She added that some started baking because they were sick and needed to focus on something.

Denyer emphasized that there is a real something constructive about baking.

Homemade Cookies

The same website revealed that baking cookies could allow the baker to decide how much sweet and fatty ingredients should go into their recipe. They explained that making homemade cookies are different from store-bought cookies.

As further added, cookies bought from shops could have highly refined flours, sweeteners, heavily processed oils, and additives. But those making homemade sweets could help us with alternatives like whole wheat flour, honey instead of sugar, and coconut oil instead of butter.

The website noted that homemade cookies could be healthier than those they could buy in the shops.

They said essential cookie ingredients contain granulated sugar, butter, all-purpose flour, and eggs. They could also add vanilla and salt or any toppings mentioned on the website.
