Pioneer Ocean View United Church of Christ (POVUCC) will donate 12 gift baskets to the Community Christian Service Agency (CCSA) on Sunday, Dec. 11.
The church announced that the initiative would be a part of its Christmas basket program. They noted that they would give out each basket to needy families.
They include food for the holiday meal and two Target or Von's gift cards for them to buy valuable items.
Besides, they explained that those who wish to participate could take a tag off the Christmas tree in the narthex. Then they could buy the items and place them in the box. They added that members should write “CCSA Christmas Baskets for Families” in the narthex.
POVUCC thanked the congregation for supporting their initiative to help others.
About Community Christian Service Agency
According to the CCSA website, they aim to be a comprehensive Christian agency in providing emergency services to people and families in need in San Diego County. They mentioned that their initiatives include offering food, clothing, and referrals.
In addition, the organization also provides counseling to guide them in their adjustment to becoming independent, as explained on the website.
The same website explained that they operate two service centers. Their primary site is in Claremont, wherein they prioritize those with low-income people and families.
Also, the other site is at the Pacific Beach Center, which focuses on serving the basic needs and problems of the increasing number of homeless individuals.
CCSA noted that they conducted over 25,000 services for people needing food, clothing, and other necessities. They emphasized that they welcome everyone in San Diego that needs assistance.
With their two centers, they mentioned that they help 2000 individuals monthly. Their center in Pacific beach helps more than 150 homeless weekly, as the website reveals.
Striving for Quality Service
CCSA has been helping the community of San Diego for 45 years, as emphasized on the website. They explained that they are working hard to give quality services to those who lack basic life needs.
More importantly, the agency said it continues to serve its clients through a vast number of volunteers and substantial resources of food, clothing, and supplies.
The website revealed that these donations came from members of various churches, community groups, and establishments. They emphasized that over 90% of the funds given proceeds to their programs that directly benefits their clients.
Serving Neighbors with Love
Meanwhile, the POVUCC website noted that they are dedicated to fighting against hunger and homelessness. As added on the website, they strive to improve the lives of those living in vulnerable communities.
The church stated that they serve their neighbors with love as they offer initiatives to address hunger and homelessness. They explained that they give out food and school supplies to the marginalized neighborhood.
As further mentioned, they assemble food baskets and distribute toys during the Christmas season.
The church said they also serve as overnight hosts at the Interfaith Shelter.
In addition, the website noted that church members prepare lunches at a local senior center as part of their mission.
