La Jolla Christian Fellowship (LJCF) encourages children ages 0 to 3rd grade to join the AWANAS Session 1 on March 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at LJCF Kids Building.

According to the church’s website, AWANA would be every Tuesday until May 17, 2022, to complete the eight sessions where kids could enjoy games, Bible memorization, and awards. AWANAS' price includes all activities, uniforms, medals, events, and snacks.

The church also informed that each child would cost $50 per session, regardless of how many sessions they attended, which would work out to less than $7 per session. They also reminded those who wish to join that the price is non-refundable for the unused days.

The AWANA

The AWANA organization mentioned a worldwide nonprofit ministry that provides Bible-based evangelism and discipleship programs for ages 2-18 stated on their website. The said ministry gives children the chance to learn, love, and serve Jesus regardless of their background.

Furthermore, they explained that for over six decades, God had utilized the ministry of Awana to reach out to children, equip leaders, and transform the world. The unchanging truth of the gospel pushes the same vision they had all these years to touch kids in every corner of the world as they walk firmly into the future and continue to be an instrument of God, the website noted.

Coming from Rich Legacy

In 1941, the children’s ministry at the North Side Gospel Center in Chicago laid the foundation for the principles of Awana, the website explained. They mentioned that North Side’s senior pastor Lance Latham partners with the church’s youth director, Art Rorheim, to develop weekly clubs that would create an interest in churched and non-churched kids. As a pioneer in children’s ministry, Rorheim made new and innovative methods to touch kids with the gospel and lead them to know love and serve Jesus Christ, the organization stated.

Meanwhile, the organization informed that other churches learned about the program's victory and inquired about its availability. They reported that in 1950, Latham and Rorheim founded Awana as a parachurch organization.

After ten years, 900 churches had started Awana programs, and by 1972, it began its first international club in Bolivia, said on the website. As of now, they said that children and youth in 104 countries join Awana programs, and millions of adults are alumni. They also highlighted that Awana serves churches from 100 various denominations.

Moreover, the said organization stated that Awana provides children a setting to belong regardless of their background so they could help them build their confidence and grow in their faith. The said ministry also stated that they continuously expand to make disciples by striving for new locations and partnerships across the globe. As posted on their website, God uses the said ministry in prisons, refugee camps, slums, and other hard-to-reach areas worldwide.

AWANA’s Impact

As the said ministry continues to live and serve this past year in an ever-changing culture, they stated that God continues to utilize loyal Awana leaders, churches, and partners worldwide to expand His kingdom and raise resilient followers. As a result of their perseverance, the website noted that Awana is now reaching nearly five million children weekly with the Gospel.

Awana organization believes that they can share some of those exciting stories in their 2021 Annual Report through the Lord's favor, which people could download on their website.
