In line with La Jolla Christian Fellowship’s mission (LJCF), the church collaborates with CAPS: Pregnancy Clinics- Restoring the Value of Life to provide medical assistance and peer counseling to those facing unexpected pregnancies.
According to the church’s website, its mission is to reach out from its small corner in La Jolla to the four corners of the world, where they aim to help people in need and know the gospel through showing the heart of Jesus.
CAPS Pregnancy Clinics
The church informed that its mission is to serve those with unplanned pregnancies. CAPS has been a licensed medical clinic in California since 2004, wherein they provide free services to all their clients.
Moreover, the clinic’s website stated that due to recent public health concerns, the said clinic is actively monitoring data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the San Diego Public Health Department (SDPH) about the spread of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus disease). Also, they mentioned that their top priority is their patients and their families, wherein as medical professionals, they already practice infection control process and standard routing precautions every day following the CDC, OSHA, and AAAHC guidelines.
More importantly, the clinic added that those who wish to set an appointment would undergo screening where they would answer several questions through the phone when they call for an appointment. If the patients experience COVID-19 symptoms such as cough, fever, or difficulty breathing, the clinic would have to delay their schedule.
Additionally, there would be another personal screening and temperature check to ensure that they are helping to contain the spread of any diseases and thus ensuring the health of all their staff and patients.
CAPS on Past Abortion
Aside from other pregnancy services, the said clinic also provides valuable resources to assist women in understanding better what they are experiencing if they are or know someone who had an abortion(s) in their past, whether recent or years ago, as posted on their services.
Furthermore, the abortion provider should have given directions for immediate physical care, including what to do if they suffer from any symptoms that may be abnormal and require medical intervention.
After Effects of Abortion
The clinic mentioned that it is normal for those who have had an abortion(s) to suffer from mental and emotional distress, which are challenging to take in. As the clinic explained, these uneasy feelings can stay for months and even years. These emotions resurface at various times throughout life for most of them and may not fade entirely, as posted on their website.
They encourage those who find themselves overwhelmed by any of the symptoms not to hesitate on calling and making appointments with their caring staff whether they need someone to talk to or join in their After Abortion Support Group.
Online Post-Abortion Support Program
The support program Abortion Changes You wherein it is a private safe place that serves as a refuge for those who want to start the process of healing, as stated on their website. They mentioned that this method includes support building, exploring emotions, and identifying loss. The clinic added that these pathways are the beginning of reflection and healing regarding the personal effects of abortion.
