The Board of Trustees of La Jolla Community Church (LJCC) invites members to the Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, June 5, from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the church’s Sanctuary.

The church announcement posted that the board members would present updates on the LJCC. This meeting would be an opportunity for the congregants to be united in their vision. Also, they noted that the members could work together to achieve their desires for the future of their church.

Besides, they announced that the meeting would take place instead of Conversations, another church program. They added that this gathering would be another way for them to mature together as a body of believers.

No childcare would be provided during the meeting, but children are welcome to join, as posted on the website.

Church’s Mission, Vision

The information section on their website mentioned that the church aims to declare and show the Kingdom of God. They could achieve this by training individuals to walk with Jesus daily. Also, the desire to have alive and maturing followers naturally doing what Jesus taught.

More importantly, the church noted that from the start of La Jolla Community Church, it had been a place for imperfect individuals to be a part of God’s family. This place is a community of gratitude and transformation. It is full of families having support, hope, and a purpose.

The website revealed that its mission, vision, and values reflect God's goodness and faithfulness.

Importance of Church Unity

According to Brett McCracken’s blog post on Nov. 26, 2017, having unity in the Christian church has been a difficult thing since the earliest days of Christianity.

The blog mentioned that the value of getting Christian beliefs and behavior correct with the open-to-interpretation nature of much Scripture leads to compelling feelings and may also cause uncompromising convictions in all aspects of theology and praxis.

McCracken explained the factors why a church should value unity.

First, it is theologically significant. He stated that Jesus devotedly prayed that his followers would be one and be brought to complete agreement.

He noted that Paul had a lot of opinions about the value of unity as a product and proof of the gospel.

He used siblings and family language when facing divisions in churches, whether it be the Jew-Gentile separations of the Roman church or the status division at Corinth.

Unified Church: Powerful Evidence, Alternative

Moreover, a unified church is powerful proof of the gospel's truth, as posted on the blog.  The website said this evidence is especially true in a world as fragmented and divisive as today.

The blogger revealed that a church united in Christ is a solid alternative when the world does not seem to agree on anything. Also, when individuals cannot bear to be with different people. He added that unity is an essential manifestation of a Spirit-filled church.

Furthermore, the blog post stated that in the ups and downs of the church in history, unity tends to correspond to the presence or absence of persecution. McCracken emphasized that there is one body, one spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God, and Father. He added that there is a demand to embrace the truth that believers are all one in Jesus.
