Makers Church welcomes volunteers to join them in conducting Impact Opportunity: Ladle Fellowship to help serve community meals every Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m at First Presbyterian Church, San Diego.

The church’s announcement stated that it is one of downtown’s oldest Soup Kitchens. They have been serving a community for 38 years and have 100 to 250 guests, depending on the time every month.

Besides, they informed members that volunteers need to fill clothing orders wherein they have an entire closet of clothing. They also need to serve meals, drinks, and snacks. The website added that they also need to fellowship with the guests and ask for their prayer requests.

The church reminded members that this is a family-friendly opportunity.

Ladle Fellowship

According to the Ladle Fellowship’s website, They have been serving San Diego’s homeless community with hot meals and clothing since 1983. But, they also stated that for many individuals on the streets, hopelessness is an even more severe risk than not having enough food, shelter, and clothing.

The said organization assists and gives hope to those on the edge of the society in their city. They do these by teaching God’s words of grace and living in His law of love. They also highlighted that the foundation of all their programs is based on evangelism and discipleship.

Their purpose is to proclaim the gospel of salvation through Jesus. They aim to help individuals living on the streets to seek a biblically ordered life. The website also stated that they desire to become deeply dedicated followers to glorify God as they work to build and expand Christ’s kingdom.

What Volunteers Can Do

The organization features the Bible verse from Deuteronomy 15:11 that says, “There will always be poor individuals. Thus, I urge you to help your brothers and the poor and those in need in your land.”

More importantly, those interested could come volunteer with them on a Sunday or the second Saturday of the month. Ladle Fellowship gives many people and groups a chance to experience the joy of service to the less fortunate in the urban area. They mentioned that they also welcome non-believers to help them.

They added that numerous groups and families take part in their program regularly. They only allow children at least ten years old to join in serving. Aside from this, high school students complete their school’s community service requirement by helping at Ladle, the website noted.

What to Expect on Sunday

The website informed the volunteers what they needed to expect on a Sunday. They would have a volunteer orientation 30 minutes before the guests arrive. Then they should go to their assigned job areas, where some organizers would explain their tasks.

Volunteers would need to prepare trays and serve meals. They would also serve bread and drinks. They are also in charge of washing the dishes, as posted on the website.

Meanwhile, some of them would be assigned to the property check-ins and take care of the ticket, while others would take care of the orders of clothes and clothes fillers.
