Story of Blessed Carlo Acutis
According to Franciscan Media, Blessed Carlo Acutis was born in London and grew up in Milan. He was born of a wealthy family; his parents were not particularly religious. At seven, he became a frequent communicant upon receiving his First Communion. Carlo made sure to pray before the tabernacle before or after every Mass.
He looked up to younger saints and set the life of Bernadette Soubirous, Jacinta and Francisco Marto, and Dominic Savio as models of his. At school, Carlo defended disabled students against bullies. Additionally, he tried to comfort friends whose parents were in the process of divorce.
Carlo also had a heart for the poor, and he volunteered to spend time with the needy and homeless. For some, he was a computer geek. Carlo dedicated four years to make a website that cataloged reported Eucharistic Miracle around the globe.
He enjoyed comics, soccer, films, and popular video games like a regular teenager. Carlo was diagnosed with leukemia. He offered his sufferings to the Lord for the intentions of the sitting Pope – Benedict XVI – and the entire Church.
He dreamt of visiting as many sites of Eucharistic Miracles as possible. However, his illness prevented him from making this dream possible. In 2006, Carlo succumbed to his condition, and he was beatified in 2020.
