Mira Mesa Presbyterian Church supports His Hands for Honduras Ministries (HHSM) for children and other special projects.
The church’s website noted that its partnership with the organization allows them to help Hondurans by motivating them.
Church Missions
The same website emphasized that they seek to demonstrate God’s love for others in the community and the world. They explained that they motivate members to use their gifts, time, and talents to be part of the church’s missions.
Besides, those interested could message the church’s Missions Ministry Team Leader, John Bridges, as noted on the website.
His Hands for Honduras
According to the HHSM website, it is a non-profit, charitable organization. They noted that their volunteers run their ministry initiatives.
As further explained, they aim to advocate unity within the body of Christ. The organization acknowledges that working together in the body of Christians must share the same faith connection in Jesus.
They added that they recognized the need for unity to experience God’s grace.
Meanwhile, at HHSM, they consist of various denominations, including Baptist, Evangelical Free, Assembly of God, and more. They explained that they joined with their brothers and sisters in Honduras to impact the lives of marginalized individuals throughout the country.
HHSM emphasized that they do not aim to make another “American work” in Honduras but to work with their brothers and sisters by helping and motivating them in their existing initiatives.
Rooted in Faith
The same website stressed that all their initiatives are based on their faith. They explained that they do not actively seek support for its operational needs. But, they ask for support for their programs designed for children and other special projects, as noted on the website.
In addition, HHSM mentioned that all the donations they collected would proceed to the children. They said they depend on God when they need a budget for their ministry.
The website noted that HHSM believes God provides everything they need.
Why Honduras
In another section, HHSM revealed that the World Food Program stated that one-third of the people in Honduras make less than one dollar daily. They explained that it is one of the most vulnerable nations to natural disasters worldwide.
Moreover, severe weather conditions frequently add to their crisis of food insecurity. The organization noted that hurricanes and prolonged heavy rains destroy crops. This situation could stop them from accessing food.
In addition, the website mentioned that 34 percent of the population has chronic malnutrition.
Children in Honduras
According to HHSM, kids in Honduras do not acquire the suggested calorie intake. This situation caused them not to have enough energy and slowed their mental and physical activities.
The website emphasized that hungry kids could not focus on taking the initiative and could lose their motivation to play or study. As further explained, insufficient nutrients could weaken the immune system and makes them prone to disease.
More importantly, they noted that children might die from common infections such as measles or diarrhea. They mentioned that the deaths of kids under five in developing nations are related to malnutrition.
