The Mission Trail Church members helped in another Amor-One-Day Trip in Mexico as part of their global outreach on  April 26.

According to the church’s Facebook post on Tuesday, the mission team helped finish the stucco on three homes for three families.

Amor Organization is one of the church’s ministry partners. The said group serves neighbors across the border in Mexico by assisting them in building homes for those in need, the church’s website stated.

Amor: Building a Future Foundation

The organization learned that building a house does not only provide a home. But instead, it establishes a foundation for the future, the Amor website revealed. Their mission statement said they desire to bring individuals together to manifest Jesus. The stated purpose has remained the constant since 1980. They believed that God called them to keep families together.

They added that the organization’s name itself means love. They decide to demonstrate God’s love through simple and tangible acts of service. Amor shows the same grace they have received through Jesus Christ to the unfortunate individuals.

More importantly, they realized that Jesus calls them to a continuous life of loving service. They do this by changing lives one family at a time through house-building opportunities. They believed that this program could transform volunteers’ mindsets.

Amor Trips For Groups

One of the options for group trips is the Impact Trip which offers three days and two nights of the all-inclusive trip. They included food, rentals, and tents. Interested volunteers just need to bring their passports, sleeping bag, and belongings.

The dates are flexible, and there should be a minimum of 15 adults in a group. The organization noted that volunteers should provide their transportation. They added that they could choose which location they wanted to volunteer, such as Baja California (Tijuana) or Puerto Peñasco.

Another option is the Classic Amor Trip, a customizable trip where groups can come up to five days and choose their add-on options to create the perfect trip for their group, as posted on their website. Volunteers can choose from one to five days with their schedule. They should also have their transportation and can choose from the two locations given.

The organization also offers a Community Engaged Options, where one of their pastors talks to the group about their community. Groups could also hire a translator for a more profound connection with the family in the said areas. Amor said that groups under this option could plan a community outreach with a local church.

What to Expect on Amor Trip

The said website mentioned that there would be an expert individual from Amor that would accompany the volunteers on-site to lead them in the building process. They added that the essential part of the trip is loving and serving the people more than building a house. So they advised groups to take this chance to communicate with the family even if they cannot speak Spanish, just play with the children or invite them to join the work.

Besides, they stated that they would have the time to share their experience around the campfire and hear from leaders in the community. They added that the situation at camp is the same as how the families live in the area where they use pit toilets and buckets or solar showers.
