Newbreak Church asked its members to support teaching school-aged Syrian and Afghan refugees as they work with Bridge Builders Network every Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in El Cajon.

The church’s announcement mentioned that they needed tutors to assist the children in managing a new school and country. They added that they could help them with their assignments.

Besides, they posted that these students need help improving their essential reading and math skills. So they could level up in high school courses.

Building Bridges

According to the Bridge Builders Network website, they seek to build bridges that could connect culture and faith. As further explained, the organization offers education to fulfill its mission.

The website revealed that more than half of the population in the world are Christians or Muslims. These religions have been the root of conflict and war through the years, as noted on the website.

They also emphasized that there are times of peace and mutual respect. Currently, the website states that there are still misunderstanding between the two religions.

In response, the Bridge Builders Network mentioned that they have an approach in America. This system could change the destructive culture of mistrust and hostility. They added that they have the framework for people to practice their beliefs and overcome fear.

Tutoring Program

As part of their initiatives, the Bridge Builders Network is now providing tutorial services for newly arrived Afghan school kids, as posted in their tutorial section.

Moreover, the website revealed that more than 200 Syrian families who relocated recently to the country are still adjusting from their past suffering to a new life in America. They said that they are trying to cope with various social practices, government, and rules and regulations.

Also, they noted that the families are still adjusting to the economy. They are still dealing with the new educational system and looking for reasonable salaries. The website said the pandemic had a crucial influence on the kid’s education.

They emphasized that many of these English students and newcomers have left their classmates further behind.

More importantly, the website discussed that families focus on making ends meet by paying their bills, maintaining their cars, etc., instead of providing a tutorial for their children.

They revealed that many families have four to six kids and live in small apartments. They added that the learned do not have a quiet area for school work in their homes.

The website said parents still have difficulty studying basic English, such as reading and writing. So they could not assist their children with homework or speak with their teachers, as posted on the website.

Establishing New Learning Center

The organization agrees with the belief of most immigrant families that their future lies with their children. As added on the website, becoming well-educated could help them provide for their families.

According to the website, the organization has built a new learning center in El Cajon so students can use them in their homework or studies. With this, the group also announced that they needed tutors to monitor the learners’ questions and help them understand their homework.
