The Church’s Life Group
“But it’s about hanging out with friends drawing closer to God. It’s just that simple, and that’s why I motivate others to be a part of them too.”, Pastor Brooks Fuller, the Life Groups Pastor, emphasized.
According to the church’s website, Life Groups give a safe place for their members to know and be known. This place is also a chance for them to love and be loved and serve. Most importantly, the said groups are intended to celebrate their journey with Jesus. In the said groups, they study more about God. They also found understanding and support and learned new ways to live out their faith through acts of service.
Moreover, they categorized each group based on age groups from Middle School, High School, Young Adults, and Adults.
10 Lessons Learned Last Semester
On the Life Group Leader’s Lounge on the church’s YouTube channel, they summarized the things they ten things they tackled during the Fall of 2021. With the other group leaders, Fuller first mentioned that the first lesson they learned is that not everything will end well each week. Secondly, he stated that he realized that individuals have great questions and love the method of Life Groups because people are spending time joining the said group.
Another important lesson they said in the video was that individuals are hungry for fellowship in today’s situation rather than a study. They focused more on the devotional style to leave space for questions. Also, they understood that the hope of Jesus moves at the speed of connection based on Matt Demateo’s podcast.
Meanwhile, Fuller also informed that serving was a struggle in his group because they did not know how rewarding it was until they did it. They added that they learned to be more flexible and consistent as leaders. Besides, as leaders, they realized that being willing to focus on their topic is needed in their group.
In the said video, they mentioned that spiritual retreat has a significant advantage in their life groups and having great icebreaker questions is helpful for new members to feel welcomed in the group. Lastly, they learned to listen to individuals outside their bubble, near and far.
