The Board of Ministries of Pioneer Ocean View United Church of Christ (CCSA) requests members for monetary gifts to buy school supplies for this year’s Back to School Backpack Program.

The church's website announced they would assemble the backpacks on Sunday, Aug. 7, and distribute them to students on Aug. 15, Monday. According to CCSA, they would give these school supplies to students from grades K to Grade nine.

Besides, they added that parents these items because of the continuous increase of prices on books and clothing.

CCSA informed members that they could support by giving checks. They noted that they could use the POV. Members could put “CCSA Backpacks” on the memo line. The members could provide online by using the drop-down menu selection, “26010 CCSA Backpacks.”

Open, Affirming Congregation

The church’s mission webpage stressed that CCSA desires to make other people feel God’s love and acceptance. So, members at CCSA serve their neighborhood and embrace each person openly.

Moreover, the congregation of CCSA advocates peace and social justice as further explained on its website. They added that the Holy Spirit gives them the courage to pray, worship, and host music ministries.

The same website highlighted the CCSA motto: "No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.”

They noted that their members work hard to connect to the world through their beliefs. Some of their principles include their faith in Jesus Christ. They also believe they should love God and their neighbor, as posted on its website.

In addition, CCSA believes that by serving others and being hospitable and friendly, they could reach out to others in their community and worldwide.

The church website also emphasized that they are an “open and affirming congregation.” At CCSA, diverse-culture members have a mutual understanding and acceptance of one another, as further noted on its website.

CCSA as Part of United Church of Christ

The church also mentioned that CCSA is a part of the United Church of Christ (UCC). According to the UCC’s website, it is a unique and diverse community of Believers coming as one church in their faith and deed.

The UCC’s website stated that they have more than five thousand churches and approximately a million members all over America. UCC works with God to create a fair and sustainable world, as further revealed on its website.

At UCC, they emphasized that everyone could all be one as they welcome all individuals.

Continuing its Vision

The same website revealed that currently, UCC continues its vision to transform lives worldwide. They posted that they are collaborating with more than 200 mission partners. UCC members never stop fighting against injustice in America and overseas, as posted on their website.

According to UCC, they share their desire with their young people and future leaders. These new generations would create new dreams, as UCC further explained.

More importantly, UCC provides and nurtures church leaders, pastors, and local churches. They do this initiative for their members to live their faith in enjoyable ways. The UCC still believes that the God who is all-loving and inclusive is still speaking.

UCC stressed that they are a church that embraces and accepts all people as they are. They said they cultivate individuals’ minds and foster their souls.
