The BRICK Youth of the Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church will hold Youth Rock Climbing on Aug. 5, Friday, at Mesa Rim in Mission Valley.
The church’s announcement encourages young people to attend the event, whether they master rock climbing or have never experienced it. They added that their leaders would also join the rock climbing.
Besides, the website noted that the total climbing would take around an hour and a half. The church announced they would meet at the Mission Valley at 10 a.m. The church also mentioned that the $20 registration would cover the entrance fee and the rental shoes.
BRICK Youth
According to the Brick Youth section, this ministry is designed for young people from grades 6-12. The Brick Youth Group stated that they aim to love everyone with all that they have.
As further explained, this youth ministry creates a genuine community of students, parents, and concerned adults to encounter Jesus Christ. They added that young generations would have a deeper faith through this group. They said that it could empower the church locally and worldwide.

The same website also posted that the young people of the BRICK group work voluntarily at the church’s Vacation Bible School (VBS) program. They also mentioned that the young people enjoyed Rock n Water Camp.
Over the summer, BRICK group members enjoy other exciting activities. They have movie nights and pool parties, according to their website.
Other August Activities
Aside from the rock climbing event, the same website also announced other programs for the BRICK youth members. The church noted that on Aug. 12, Friday, they would host a youth bowling at Aztec Bowl at the SDSU campus.
Besides, they would have part four for their epic Unicorn Battle on Aug. 14, Sunday.
Also, teenagers from grades 6-12 would have the chance to see the San Diego Padres take on Washington Nationals. They would go to Petco Park on Aug. 21, Sunday.
Climbing Technique Stations
The Mesa Rim Mission website mentioned the fundamentals of climbing. They have created Mesa Rim Climbing strategies to help climbers climb confidently.
The “Climbing Technique Stations” is where climbers can learn vertical terrain before going out on the floor, as further explained on its website. The website added that Mesa Rim Mission divides these lessons to guide climbers through the basic concepts of climbing.
In these sessions, the participants would learn the common climbing terminology and the effective positioning of their feet. They would also discover various body positions to help them in their climbing experience, as posted on their website.
According to the same website, there are six stations that climbers could follow to guide them. They noted that the first station is to get the climber’s feet comfortable, then they would know different ways of using their hands.
Afterward, the website posted that participants would learn how to combine their hands and feet while climbing.
In the third session, the climbers would learn the grading systems for starting, finishing, and climbing. Then for the fourth station, Mesa Rim Mission would teach climbers to apply everything they knew.
Lastly, as further posted on the website, they would know how to take it to the floor.
