The Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego encouraged parishioners to join the 40 Days for Life Campaign to pray in front of abortion facilities from Wednesday, Sept. 28, to Sunday, Nov. 6.
According to the church’s website, the continuous prayer vigil is happening simultaneously in hundreds of cities worldwide. As further discussed, the campaign is legal and supposedly peaceful.
Besides, it includes eight areas in San Diego and Imperial Valley. The same website revealed that more than 20,000 infants had been saved through the campaign.
Also, they added that over 100 abortion centers had been closed because of the movement since it began in 2007.
Moreover, the church emphasized that they believe nothing is impossible with God. They added that believers and those with conscience gather together in 40 days for prayer and fasting to end abortion.
In addition, they noted that the highlight of the campaign is the prayer vigil outside a building or office that offers abortion in the community. The Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego stressed that it has no violence and that people could learn from joining this event.
40 Days for Life
According to the 40 Days for Life website, they seek to stop abortion for 40 days of prayer and fasting. During this period, they also serve the community and have a peaceful vigil for the whole day.
The same website said they exist to help the unjust way of killing humans through abortion. They think that when the people of God commit themselves to fast with a broken and righteous spirit, then God would hear them and give them healing.
The movement believes God would work in churches, neighborhoods, counties, and the world.
Call of Repentance
Meanwhile, they mentioned that this campaign is also an opportunity for those in the abortion business to repent. As further explained, believers would have a continuous round-the-clock prayer vigil to send a realization to the community.
Through praying continuously in front of these centers and facilities, the movement could help other people to see the devastating impact of abortion.
Those parishioners who would like to participate but do not have any abortion facility in their area could still hold 40 Days for Life. The website advised them to choose a different place that could be effective.
As mentioned, they could pray near city hall, courtrooms, or areas that have an apparent connection with abortion.
Door-to-door Drive
As part of the campaign’s community outreach, they explained that the church leaders and local pastors are holding a meeting to involve the church in ending abortion. They added that they are hosting door-to-door petitions and educating every house in their area.
The website also highlighted that supporters wear wristbands, put signs in their yards, or show bumper stickers on their cars. These initiatives show their desire to help advocate the 40 Days for life mission, as the website explains.
As for the publicity, the website said that their media outreach is intentional in their news stories, talk shows, and editorials.
