San Diego Christian Fellowship (SDCF) invited its whole congregation to join their First Annual SDCF Sports Fest at the South Campus on July 16.

The church’s Facebook post mentioned that there would be free throws, billiards, darts, and table tennis at the said event. Members could also enjoy playing chess, golf, and cornhole.

Time for Togetherness

According to the church’s news section, this event is an opportunity to have fun and fellowship with their sister congregations. They added that it could also break them in all seven sports with love.

Each congregation could have four players per sport. Those interested could register on their online form then the captains of their sports would reach out to them for practice. The church posted that they had a couple of training before the said event.

Those who wanted to play billiards and darts had their training in La Mesa, while those who played chess and cornhole trained at The Villa. Basketplayers practice at Breen Park.

The church emphasizes in the news section that this is a time for togetherness and team-building.

One Church, Three Congregations

SDCF is a family of faith rooted in the Person and love of Jesus Christ, as posted on their homepage. They added that they have three congregations in one church, which are the SDCF North, SDCF The Filipino Congregation, and SDCF South.

The church’s identity section revealed that they seek to see people refreshed in Christ and strengthened by the Spirit to help others enter God's Kingdom. Besides, their vision is to grow congregations of SDCF and to build leaders to serve all its members. They envision this goal to influence San Diego County for Jesus.

The church wants to implement its vision by reaching out to the lost through enfolding, training, and sending the found, as posted on its website.

Part of Converge

The church also revealed that they are a part of Converge, formerly known as the Baptist General Conference. It is a nationwide network of 1300 churches.

According to the Converge website, they are a movement of churches collaborating to help individuals meet, know, and follow Jesus. To achieve their purpose, they are pioneering and empowering churches worldwide.

The website stated that they had assisted churches in bringing life transformation to neighborhoods in America and around the world for 170 years. They achieved these initiatives through church planting and multiplications. They also had leadership training and global missions.

Christ’s Work on the Cross

In their mission and vision webpage, Converge revealed that their churches come together for something greeted than doing a task. They are brought together for Christ’s completed work on the cross. They noted that they have forgiveness from their past because of the cross.

They added that the cross gave them the strength for their present and hope for the future. With this, they converge around the cross to carry what Chris has done for them and make it known to others.

Converge seeks to give everyone the chance to hear the gospel and commit to Jesus. They want people to mature in their faith and be nurtured to serve and sent out. They desire that every person experience a life-transforming, personal connection with Jesus.
