Those who need food can RSVP by calling or texting 760-470-6992 their name, the number of individuals they are providing for, and if they need diapers.
Sarah's Hope Food Pantry distributes food at the church. According to the website, once a person is in their system, they can pick up food every week.
The pantry remained open weekly throughout the pandemic lockdown. It continues to help provide nourishment through feeding more than 100 hungry households and unhoused neighbors monthly.
The pantry partners with Feeding San Diego, and this collaboration enables Sarah's Hope Food Pantry to address food insecurity. This is made possible by connecting the pantry and kitchen with fresh produce through local markets.
About Oceanside Sanctuary
The church location is 204 S Freeman St. Oceanside, CA 92054. As shared on its Facebook page, the Oceanside Sanctuary has faithfully served the city since 1865.
According to the About section of its webpage, the church started with 13 Christians who came together. They met in a one-room schoolhouse in the township of San Luis Rey, near the mission.
They identified themselves as "The Christian Church at San Luis Rey." Then, in 1908 the congregation relocated to the flourishing new town of Oceanside. In 1928, the congregation built the existing church building.
The church is congregational, which means any denomination does not govern it.
At present, Rev. Jason Coker serves as lead pastor for Oceanside Sanctuary. The reverend, the ministry staff, and elders guide this congregation in their faith journey.
