Shadow Mountain Community Church invited the congregation to participate in their celebration of America’s freedom by hosting a patriotic service from July 02 to July 03 at 7 p.m. at Greenfield Drive, El Cajon.
The church website stated that they would honor all members of the Armed Forces. They added that there would be two identical outdoor masses, each featuring songs by Micahel Sanchez with their church’s choir and orchestra. Pastor Jeremiah would also deliver a motivating message.
Besides, they informed members that the church prepared a dramatic fireworks display after each service. They emphasized that God has blessed them in many ways in their personal lives and nation. They encourage their congregants to join the services to show their love for their country.
Celebrating Freedom's History
The Farmer’s Almanac revealed that America’s Independence Day is usually celebrated on July 4. They noted that this year would be the country’s 246th celebration as a free country after the Revolutionary War. On July 4, 1776, the founding fathers signed this declaration, as posted on the website.
More importantly, the website mentioned that the Declaration of their freedom was announced on July 4, but the formal signing occurred on August 2. The website noted that colonies voted to accept it on July 2.
John Adams, who pioneered the idea of declaring freedom from England, wrote a renowned letter to his wife, Abigail. In it, Adams told his wife how he thought July 02 would be a day that was remembered and celebrated in America in the future. But the website emphasized that people recognized it otherwise.
Patriotic Death
Another interesting fact they noted is that the three American presidents died on the same day, July 4. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams in 1826, just hours apart. The website mentioned that they had been competitors in everything, even who would live the longest. However, they added that the two became friends in their later years, and their letters were published in various books. Meanwhile, the third president who died on the same day was James Monroe. He died in 1831.
Setting Off Fireworks Display
As stated on the website, the fireworks display is one of the highlights of many Independence Day celebrations. They said that the huge, colorful displays light up the night sky all over the United States.
The Farmers' Almanac mentioned that fireworks have become a great American Independence Day tradition.
Today, people are fascinated with the Fourth of July fireworks, and the website says that they are rooted in American history. They stated that even before the last version of the Declaration of Independence was signed, Adams imagined a great celebration in the future.
The website also added that fireworks displays were used to motivate the morale of soldiers in the Revolutionary War. But at that time, fireworks were used as a kind of explosive for war and were called "rockets," not fireworks.
They revealed that the colonists commemorated the fourth even before they knew they would have a victory in the war. They went on to say that politicians who used fireworks during speeches made them famous in the late 1700s. Lastly, the website noted that they became a firm part of the tradition by the 1800s.
