As the people of Ukraine are in desperate need of prayers and support, Shadow Mountain Community Church collects donations over the next several days.
The church’s website announced that all donations would be given to Samaritan’s Purse to support their ministry in this war-torn country by helping the Ukrainian people. Each member could donate by visiting the church’s website.
Samaritan’s Purse
According to their mission statement posted on their organization’s website, Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people worldwide.
Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disaster, disease, and famine to share God’s love through His son, Jesus Christ. Additionally, the mentioned that this organization serves Church globally to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Moreover, on the said website, they mentioned that this organization stands ready to respond at a moment’s notice whenever and wherever disaster arises. They also added that they specialize in meeting critical needs for victims of conflict, disaster, famine, and epidemics worldwide.
They are often working through ministry partners on the ground. The organization said they provide food, water, shelter, medicine, and other assistance.
Ministry Highlights Crisis in Ukraine
On a report posted on the said website on March 4, Samaritan’s Purse has deployed Emergency Field Hospital to Ukraine. Their DC- 8 cargo plane based in Greensboro airlifted the initial stages of the field hospital along with Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) members, including doctors, nurses, and logistics and set-up personnel.
They mentioned that the field hospital is equipped with an operating room (up to ten surgeries per day), an ICU, an emergency room, a pharmacy, and a water and sanitation system. They added that this field facility could accommodate as many as 100 patients a day, and 50 staff (medical and non-medical) will operate the said hospital.
Franklin Graham, the president of Samaritan’s Purse, explained in the report that Ukrainian families are hurting and in desperate need of physical aid and prayer during this difficult time. He also said they are deploying life-saving medical care to aid people suffering.
He wants to meet the needs of these families in their darkest moments while pointing them to the light and hope of Jesus Christ.
Emergency Field Hospital Set up in Ukraine
The said organization updated on March 6 that the cargo plane arrived safely in Poland and materials for the Emergency Field Hospital materials have been transported to Ukraine. The Samaritan’s Purse team is now setting up the facility on the outskirts of Lviv.
Based on their recent assessments, it has been decided to increase the capacity of their Ukraine field hospital. They plan to set up two operating rooms with 14 significant surgeries or 30 minor surgeries per day.
According to the report, there will be nearly 60 total inpatient beds, including four intensive care unit beds and four step-down beds. They informed me that the emergency room could handle 100 patients per day. Samaritan’s Purse also mentioned that additional equipment is scheduled to be flown to Poland and taken into Ukraine later this week.
