As a response to their pastor's sermon to develop a mindset of generosity, the City View Church will raise funds for the Convoy of Hope humanitarian aid effort for the people in Ukraine.
On the church’s Facebook post on March 1, they said they would conduct three-week fundraising. Each member could give through the church’s website, bring their check to the church, or mail it in. They also need to note that the money is for the Convoy of Hope/ Ukraine.
City View Church on Giving
On the church’s website, they explained how their insights on giving. According to them, at City View, giving is a way anyone can be involved in sharing the gospel with the city and the world. They give as an act of worship by demonstrating that they acknowledge all the benefits of supporting God’s mission.
Additionally, they highlighted that those advantages include their agreement that their act of giving aligns with the principles of God’s word. They mentioned that giving leads to abundance insulates them from materialism and builds compassion for those who need to know God’s unfailing love.
They also advised those who have some inquiries to contact them on their E-mail.
Convoy of Hope
According to the Convoy of Hope’s website, they are a faith-based nonprofit organization passionate about feeding the world through children’s feeding initiatives, community outreach, and disaster response. They said that their purpose is to bring help and hope to those who are impoverished, hungry, and hurting.
Convoy strategically offers assistance and hope to communities worldwide by partnering with local churches, businesses, civic organizations, and government agencies.
Ukraine War Response
As a response to the war in Ukraine against Russia, in their post on February 24, they reported that the organization is actively reaching out to their local partners to find ways to assist Ukrainians during the attacks from Russia.
Furthermore, they mentioned that Russia declared war early Thursday morning on the report. They said soldiers and tanks crossed over Ukraine’s border while airstrikes and other explosives hit targets in several major cities, including Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv.
In a report posted on the said website on March 2, Ukraine’s State of Emergency Service mentioned that more than 2,000 civilians had been killed since the war began less than a week ago.
Also, missiles and cluster bombs continued to fall on Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, overnight and Wednesday morning. Convoy of Hope is on the ground in Europe, helping refugees in need of relief.
Meanwhile, more than 874,000 Ukrainian refugees seek shelter in neighboring countries, including Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland. Ukraine and Poland opened two new border crossings to reduce the massive huddles of victims waiting for their turn to flee from the violence.
Moreover, the said Organization posted an update on March 4 that the team and partners across Europe are busy resourcing, transporting, and distributing much-needed supplies, including food, water, hygiene items, and the other essentials to refugees.
In addition, they reported that multiple partners have also facilitated shelter for people in need of a safe, warm place to stay.
