The Saddleback Relief Team has connected with pastors in Poland who are preparing to receive Ukrainian refugees.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, March 01, the Saddleback Church shared the conversation with Pastor Krysztof of the church “Christian North Warsa” in Poland. This pastor has been a good friend of Saddleback’s and has been a part of Purpose Driven Church for many years.
According to the said message, almost two million Ukrainians live in Poland. Many of them are members of their church (Christian Fellowship North). He also added that they have relatives in Ukraine and will soon come to Poland and other European countries in vast numbers.
In line with this, the Christian Fellowship North is with Poland as they empathize and secure shelter for the refugees. They said they are offering their church building for the Ukrainians and collecting funds to provide transport, rent accommodation, and buy food, clothes, and medicine. The church also gives legal help along with many other needs.
With that being said, Pastor Krysztof seeks to support and pray for Ukraine.
Caring for Ukraine
Meanwhile, the Saddleback Church assures them that the church will continue to provide reinforcement. The church’s website reported on Feb.24 that the Saddleback Relief team is in touch with local pastors in Ukraine seeking prayers.
They said local pastors are preparing to accommodate and care for displaced families. These local pastors need to organize rooms, generators, blankets, and food.
Moreover, they are encouraging the support of everyone to help the people in Ukraine. People who wish to give can check their website.
They also urge everyone to join them in prayer. The team asked to pray for peace and immediate restoration. Also, they ask God for the war to come to a complete end. Lastly, they request everyone to call upon the Lord for the people to know the love and hope of Jesus amidst this difficult time.

Need to care for Ukraine
The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission website posted an article on Feb. 25 about why Christians should care about what is happening in Ukraine.
One of the reasons they highlighted is that Ukraine is home to a vibrant Church and many missionaries. According to the report, there could be around five million people who could be displaced as refugees by the war, and this has created an enormous influx of refugees in Europe since the Syrian crisis in 2015
In an interview with Joshua Tokar, director of English language services at Ukraine Evangelical Theological Seminary, he said that Ukraine is the top missionary-sending country for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
In addition, he also quoted that the Ukrainian church is perhaps the strongest and is making the most effort for education, training, and sending out workers.
They reported that many Christians serving in Ukraine had made the tough decisions to relocate out of the country while others have chosen to stay.
In the said article, they mentioned that as Russia continues to invade and seek a regime change, it is most likely that these Christian brothers and sisters and those of other religious minorities will face extreme persecution and human rights abuses.
