A chef in San Diego brings recipes to her listeners through “The Flavors of Faith” program. She combines her passion for food and the lessons of the Holy Scriptures to create recipes she shares with her listeners.
“The Flavors of Faith,” Chef Adriana Grub’s Recipes
“To continue to spread love, hope, and charity for my neighbor with my culinary skills as well as the Word of the Lord.”
Chef Adriana Grub provides food that nourishes body and soul by incorporating her recipes and lessons of the Scriptures into her recipes. The chef told The Southern Cross food goes hand – in hand with one’s religion.
This is her explanation of the origin of her Spanish – language radio program – “The Flavors of Faith.” As reported on The Southern Cross, Chef Adriana shared it was a wonder to her what food the Holy Family are and thought how vital it was for families to gather around mealtimes.
Furthermore, she emphasized that family unity is vital, and there is no better chance to capture it than during meal preparation and as everyone sits at the table to eat.
Initially, Chef Adriana wanted to write a book before hosting her weekly program on Hombre Nuevo Radio.
The station caters to the local Latino Catholic community. This was how “Los Sabores de la Fe” began in 2018.
The show incorporates corporal nourishment with spiritual nourishment. The theme of each program is planned according to Liturgical Calendar. Chef Adriana updates herself regarding upcoming festivities and chooses recipes that match the celebrations.
This coming Lenten, Chef Adriana shared a simple fish recipe to The Southern Cross. According to the report, this simple dish, Santa Veracruz Fish, is perfect for a family to prepare while discussing the life of Christ.
Her Spanish-language program “Los Sabores de la Fe” is transmitted on Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. through the Facebook page of Hombre Nuevo Radio. It is also found online at hombrenuevo.com.
Aside from teaching a recipe every week, Chef Adriana features a guest who discusses a timely topic about faith. The chef also invites audience members to give their petitions to present before the Blessed Sacrament.
About Chef Adriana Grub
The Southern Cross shared Chef Adriana was born to a Catholic family in Mexico. She started learning how to cook at the age of 6, through her mother and grandmother. They taught her to prepare everything from rice to exquisite cakes.
At age 10, she prepares the traditional holiday turkey meal at home. These foundational experiences at home became her inspirations in sharing the beauty of cooking as a family.
According to her website, at age 15, Chef Adriana traveled to the U.S. and became involved in the culinary field. She acquired her diploma at the Culinary Institute of New York and headed back to Mexico.
In 1988, she established the "Centro De Atención Gastronómica Y Haute Cocina Grand Gourmet." Chef Adriana taught cooking techniques to future chefs. Moreover, she taught them to eat healthily.
She also told The Southern Cross that she invites families to come together and prepare the recipe she shares. Moreover, her recipe encourages them to do things together; set the table and pray together, talk during the meal, and clean – up together like a team.
This idea aims to promote unity in the family.
