Makers Church’s Easter Celebration
On the church’s Facebook post on April 13, they invited members to celebrate Easter Weekend with them. They also encouraged their organization to invite their friends to gather and remember the death of Jesus and celebrate His miraculous resurrection.
Moreover, They also stated that their Easter gathering starts at 9:45 a.m. on April 17. Afterward, they would have a fantastic brunch to start the rest of the program. The church also prepared Easter Egg Hunt for the children directly after the gathering in their Courtyard, as posted on their website.
Jesus’ Last Words
John Holcomb of the Christianity website wrote an article on March 9 about explaining the Seven Last Words of Jesus. He stated that before rushing into celebrating the resurrection part of Easter, people need to reflect on the words of Jesus on the cross. The writer emphasized that individuals need to understand Good Friday to appreciate Easter Sunday.
Each year, Christians meditate on the depth of Jesus’ sacrifice for the human race, Holcomb mentioned. He added that it’s the time to dwell on the reason why Jesus suffered for everyone, in all its pain and intensity, without going straight to the good news of Easter, resurrection, and new life.
Luke recorded Jesus’ last words. It was written in Luke 23:44, and it was now about the sixth hour. There was darkness over the land until the ninth hour, and the curtain was divided. Then Jesus shouted out with a loud voice and said, “Father, in your hands, I commit my spirit.” After saying this, he had his last breath.
Importance of Jesus' Last Words
Holcomb explained that the passage from Luke 23:44 is a moving record of Jesus’ dying words on the said website. He stated that the significance of Jesus’ statements is based on his conversation with the leaders about his part in God’s great plan.
More importantly, the author mentioned that according to John 10:18, no one took Jesus’ life from him. His father had instructed him on a specific task to lay down his life on behalf of the human race.
He also said that when people read of Jesus before his sacrifice on the cross, it becomes clear to everyone the gravity of His choice. He said that Jesus spends a passionate evening in prayer while battling with the reality of the task ahead of him. The author also noted that Jesus went so far as to ask His Father to remove the job or to make another way, yet in the end, He concludes that His Father’s will must happen.
Story Does not End Here
By commemorating the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, the author emphasizes that there is hope in celebrating Easter. But, he advises everyone to take a moment to acknowledge the suffering of their Savior. Christians can do this by giving thanks to Jesus for His unfailing love and faithfulness that made him lay down His life for everyone as ransom.
