Members and newcomers are all invited to the 52nd Anniversary Celebration of The Metropolitan Community Church of San Diego on June 5 at 10 a.m.
In the church’s newsletter, they noted that Pastor Dan Koeshall, the senior pastor, announced that they would come together in one worship service to commemorate their anniversary.
Celebrating Our Many Languages
The church’s news also stated that on June 5, it is not only their anniversary celebration but also Pentecost Sunday. It was a celebration of the Holy Spirit when it descended on the apostles, who shared the good news of God’s inclusive love for all individuals with various languages.
They mentioned that it is described as the birth of the Christian Church. With that, Koeshall encouraged all members who know how to speak various languages to use them in their service. They could do this by reading a brief word of God or a quote that the church would provide. The pastor would want members to use other languages than English during their anniversary service.
Homecoming Weekend
The church website encourages the congregation to participate in their 52nd homecoming weekend. On Saturday, June 4, they will be having a potluck at 5:30 p.m. and a Singspiration at 6:30 p.m. The next day would be the highlight of their celebration. The Martin Luther King Jr. Community Choir will hold a free concert for everyone in the evening.
The MET Church
“Bringing individuals closer to God and one another,” the church noted.
The same website revealed that the church is a free and affirming faith community. They added that they honor the rich wisdom of other faith cultures. They are rooted in the teachings and spiritual practices of believers, they mentioned.
Besides, the church accepts each person as a unique and gifted creation of God. They are creating a history of celebrating sexual orientation, gender, and gender identity differences. They emphasized that they are a church that embraces all people.
Moreover, they noted that they are appointed to teach and practice the Good News of God’s amazing love for all individuals. They open their home to those who have been in spiritual pain or are seeking a relationship with God. They also welcome those who desire to mature in their faith.
The church has been called to actively promote fairness and justice to all individuals, as posted on their website. Also, they mentioned that God called them to be fully dedicated to their growth with others on their spiritual walk to hope, healing, and completeness.
Transforming Themselves
In the church’s brochure, they posted that the Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) San Diego is part of the worldwide movement of MET Church. The unfinished task and prophetic future enforce them, the brochure added. The church revealed that they are a global movement of individuals with spiritual and sexual diversity who are fully aware of God’s unconditional love.
They mentioned that they follow Jesus and are empowered by the Holy Spirit. They aim to create a leading-edge church community that demands, proclaims, and does justice in the world.
