First Presbyterian, Ladle Fellowship
“There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore, I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.” – Deuteronomy 15:11
According to its webpage, the Ladle Fellowship has served San Diego’s homeless population hot meals and clothing since 1983. Aside from feeding the hungry, the Ladle Fellowship shares the Gospel of grace and God’s law of love.
The Ladle Fellowship helps and nurtures hope in people living on the streets of San Diego. It also offers haircuts to the homeless through one of its volunteers.
As shared on its web page, relationship-based discipleship and evangelism motivate the organization’s actions. The Ladle Fellowship aims to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ to help homeless believers and others searching for a biblically ordered life.
The fellowship also strives to become more deeply committed disciples. Another mission it pursues is the desire to deliver the Lord’s glory as it works to build and expand Christ’s kingdom.
As stated on the Ladle Fellowship website, everyone can help in various ways. These are by being a volunteer, praying for the homeless, giving money and clothing to Ladle Fellowship, and educating oneself about the homeless.
