Encountering God

According to Jonathan Grado on  Kent Murawski's website, encounters with God firmly root believers in a heavenly reality and launch them into their path. He stated four things could happen when a person experiences God.

First, he mentioned that God desires to reveal Himself. Especially during times of personal transformation and cultural disturbance. Things are rapidly changing, and it was during the trouble God showed Himself to Isaiah, as noted in 2 Chronicles 26:5.

Another thing that one could feel is that meeting God gives someone clarity and could be filled in His presence. Grado emphasized that Isaiah had a heavenly clarity when he saw the Lord and what was happening in heaven. God is seated on His throne, and the temple is filled with His presence while the angels are singing.

Moreover, he stated that God's encounters show a person’s insufficiency and could motivate him towards repentance. Grado mentioned that Isaiah 6:5 -7 reveals the imperfection of Isaiah. He said that repentance is the only appropriate response to knowing someone’s shortcomings.

Lastly, encountering God could give a person clarity on their calling and the demand to respond, as noted in verse 8 of the said chapter. Grado said believers could not enter God’s presence and remain the same. He added that worship without action is no worship, just as faith without deeds is worthless.
