The Rock Church would hold a unique series of crisis intervention, trauma, and disaster response classes. The purpose is to train members to serve the community from July 7 to July 9.

The church's event section announced that this training would prepare individuals to build hope and comfort. Through this training, participants would also learn to be more compassionate.

Also, they said that these courses would help them establish Jesus Christ's guidance. So they would be ready in times of crisis and brokenness.

The first topic in the series is the Basic Critical Incident Stress Management workshop. They call it “Pastoral Crisis Intervention-1,” a mix of Biblical faith-based training with a traditional approach.

The website said that this course would help the church prepare for the work of trauma response. They would serve as a witness to their community in times of need. The church added that this is a 13-hour course.

The participants know how effective a Christian-based intervention is. They would also know about traditional psychological crisis prevention.

Certified Workshop

They added that the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) certified the workshop. These practical guidelines and approaches would benefit the congregation and chaplains. Meanwhile, counselors, mental health professionals, and pastors would also learn from the workshop.

Besides, this workshop is for people to care in times of need, which would cover the nature of crises and how to work hard. Then they would also discuss crisis intervention techniques as a ministry. Primary chaplaincy would also be a part of the workshop.

The training would teach members the common signs and symptoms of stress reactions. The team would guide them through Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). Then the workshop would tackle psychological and emotional interventions.

The workshop would help participants understand the extent of support services.  They will learn about faith-care interventions. Besides, the team would teach them common errors in Crisis intervention. They would discover the most challenging trauma situations and when to consider self-care.

Instructor: Mickey Stonier

According to the church webpage, Mickey Stonier would be the workshop instructor.  He is a Ph.D. Certified Crisis Service Specialist. They noted that he serves as Chaplain for the Coronado and San Diego Fire-Rescue Departments and the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office.

He also worked for the San Diego Harbor Police Department and the Office of Emergency Services. Stonier also participated in other public and private organizations.

ICSF Organization

The ICSF website says its mission is to lead education and training.

They also aim to give consultation and support services for comprehensive crisis involvement. They want to assist emergency volunteers and other professionals in disaster preparedness.

They also mentioned that CISM is an approach to assisting first responders. Also, those people who have been part of the crucial incidents.

These incidents have affected them emotionally and or physically.

The website added that CISM is a method that allows peers to assist their peers. They help in understanding problems that might happen after the event.

Furthermore, this process also prepares individuals to continue to do their services. The method would also help them to return to a usual lifestyle. ICISF gives training to people interested in becoming a part of a crisis management team.
