The non – profit organization is giving back to the community through serving meals this holiday season. It also has the ongoing donation drive, Virtual Kettles, to help it continue its mission.

Holiday Meals for Everyone

Days before Christmas, organizations like The Salvation Army do their part in sharing the love and joy of the season. Lt. Colonel Lescano of The Salvation Army joined KUSI News and talked with Paul Rudy.

He shared about the meal distribution and virtual kettle of The Salvation Army.

As heard from the interview, the organization will be serving meals on Christmas Day. Lt. Colonel Lescano shared that it will happen at Centre City at 825 7th Avenue Downtown and their El Cajon Red Shield location, 1025 Main Street.

Meals will be served from 11:00 a.m. and will end around 12:30 p.m.

Lt. Colonel Lescano told Paul Rudy the meals are free for everyone. Anyone hungry doesn't have a place to go or meal or want to come and enjoy a free hot special meal.

According to the colonel, due to COVID, families had struggled. Still, The Salvation Army has been distributing some six hundred thousand meals over the last 18 months and will continue doing such.

It's Christmas, the organization's request for family assistance and toys is greater.

As stated by Lt. Colonel Lescano, the organization is grateful to volunteers and those who donate to The Salvation Army through Virtual Kettles and regularly.

"Doing the Most Good."

With the pandemic, people can ring the kettle online, as stated by the colonel. The Salvation Army is hopeful that the iconic kettle will be back in the stores in coming years.

Nonetheless, if that does not happen, The Salvation Army will always have a kettle, maybe virtual, but it will be there to help people help others around.

As per its website, The Salvation Army's Red Kettles are back. This return means it is nearly Christmas, and the community neighbors in need are counting on donations.

The Red Kettle is a tradition widely known around the globe. It is an annual campaign that helps millions in need. At present, with the pandemic still affecting mobility, The Salvation Army brought the Red Kettle experience into the digital world – transforming it into Virtual Kettles.

According to its webpage, The Salvation Army is an international movement. It is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church.

The organization's message is based on the Bible. Moreover, its ministry is motivated by God's love. The Salvation Army's goal is to preach the Gospel of Christ and to address human needs in Jesus' name without discrimination.

General William Booth is the founder of The Salvation Army. He established the church and this charitable institution with his wife in 1865.

As explained on the website, the soldiers of The Salvation Army are citizens in communities across the U.S. These people gave alliance to the doctrines and disciplines of the Army. There are around 450,000 soldiers in the U.S.
