As the Trinity Church opens The Community Food Connection, they invite members to join this ministry every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The church’s website mentioned the Food Connection knows how difficult it can be for families struggling with poverty to eat healthy meals. For this reason, they do their best to provide healthy choices and distribute fresh produce and other food items to people and families in need, they added.

They also announced that all members living in San Diego and the neighboring area would volunteer on the said project. They noted that the food they are distributing is fresh produce, bread, frozen food, canned goods, and dry goods.

The Community Food Connection

The Community Food Connection is located at the center of Poway, an all-volunteer non-profit group designed to help the food insecure, as stated on their organization’s website. According to them, they strive to enhance the lives of everyone in need of food within the various communities they are supporting with the dedication of their volunteers and partnering organizations.

The said organization informed that they give out over 90,000 pounds of food to over 4,250 households every month. They strive to enrich the lives of everyone who lacks food through collaborating with the San Diego Food Bank and Feeding San Diego, the website noted.

Moreover, they are actively soliciting support and are always welcome to donate, as mentioned on their website.

Emergency Food

In line with the organization’s purpose, they informed that once a month during their distribution hours, they provide food from the Government called Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP) to qualified families. They added that to be qualified, individuals need their identification, home address, an indication of their income, and how many people are there in their family to give the appropriate amount of food.

Pantry Food

Furthermore, the said organization explained that Pantry Food is the food they collect through partnerships with San Diego Food Bank and their affiliate grocery shops, including produce, meat, dairy, bread, and canned goods. They posted on their website that those who need food could go to their address behind the Trinity Church in Poway. They have a drive-through line for safety purposes and will place a food box in their car trunk or back seat, said on their announcement.

Getting Involve

It starts with the will to make a difference, the group stated. The Community Food Connection highlighted their success since 2002  in assisting the community has been made possible because of their volunteers and partners.

They also mentioned that with the generous contribution of these individuals, no matter how great or small, they can make a difference. The group expressed their gratitude for the help they provided and assured them that it would change lives for the better.

More importantly, they emphasize that there would be no Food Pantry without their volunteers. They are looking for heart-centered individuals who must be 16 years old to be part of their activity. These volunteers would pick up food at their various partner organizations, sort and box food for distribution, explained on their website.

They also mentioned that volunteers would give the sorted food to their customers at their Poway site three times a week. With their passion for helping without payment, these individuals can help them in their endeavor to fight hunger, the group added.
