The Victory Outreach Church San Diego will give toys to all children on their second service on Saturday, Dec. 24.

The church’s Facebook page said it aims to bless families in San Diego every year. They noted that members would hear a special message from Pastor Al Valdez during their first service.

Besides, they said it would be a miracle service focusing on the wonders of God. They mentioned that the parents should register their kids to receive toys during the event.

Story of Christmas Toys

The French Moments website revealed that nowadays, it is common to call Christmas a “child’s holiday.” They explained that children expect to receive toys on Christmas. They expect, wish and demand toys, as added on the website.

In addition, they noted that on Christmas morning, kids are impatient to run to their living room, where the Christmas tree stands. The website said the children believe it is time to open the Santa Claus gift.

Kids mainly desire to receive toys instead of clothes or necessities on Christmas, as the website stresses.

Traditional Christmas Toys

The same website revealed that Christmas toys are often related to handmade and wooden items. They stated that the first wooden toys in history were founded in ancient times.

According to the website, archaeologists discovered them in Egypt and said people made those wooden items around 3000 BC. They explained that they do not call them Christmas toys.

The website said that the French word “jouet,” or toy emerged in the French language in the 13th century from the word “petit jeu,” meaning little game.

In addition, they noted that some makers of wooden toys were selling their products to merchants at fairs and markets on St. Nicholas’ Day in the Middle Ages.

The French Moments revealed the first rocking rose appeared in the 17th century. They emphasized that it was the first released product for the general public in the 1840s. Besides, cartographer John Spilsbury did the first wooden puzzle in 1970, as noted on the website.

The website said that the wooden puzzle was a map to assist kids in remembering European geography.

Family-oriented Celebration

On the same website, they mentioned that childhood innocence took hold in the 19th century. They stated that the kids became the precious innocent guardians of Life.

In addition, they noted that during those times, it was not about drinking anymore but about children. This concept was more welcome to the church and public order, as explained on the website.

Moreover, the Christmas carols in the 19th century center their theme on childhood, as revealed on the website. These songs include Silent Night, What Child Is This, and Away in a Manger, as the website added.

Bringing Everyone Together

As further discussed, the Christmas celebration is an opportunity to unite the rich and the poor. They stated that the new customs of the 19th century transformed the center of Christmas generosity from the lower classes to their kids.

Meanwhile, the website revealed that the “child-centered” season could be seen while serving the newly industrialized economy.
