Among the challenges in living in the streets is braving the winter storms and cold rainy nights. We See You, San Diego, in its mission to help San Diego’s homeless population, conducted a Cozy Drive. Last March 8, the organization received donations for keeping the homeless warm in cold weather.
Cozy Items for Homeless
Tuesday this week was the coldest day in San Diego in 31 years. According to the Times of San Diego, it was one of the coldest days recorded for March in San Diego on Tuesday, the National Weather Service reported.
The report stated that the low temperature of 42 was the lowest since March 16, 1991, also 42. This record was 31 years ago. It matched a low of 42 on March 3, 1971.
Such conditions can be very tough times for the homeless.

They needed more donations and asked people who wanted to help drop off items at 5444 Napa Street, San Diego. As stated in the interview, donations are accepted from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
We See You, San Diego, Cozy Drive asked for donations such as:

Homelessness Challenge in San Diego
According to KPBS, the recent focus on a homeless encampment in the Midway area of San Diego provided a clear picture of some of the challenges the region faces regarding homelessness.
As per the report, despite efforts to clean up encampments, the homeless population in San Diego County significantly increased above 8,000 individuals for some time.
KPBS reported that in 2012 the sheltered and unsheltered population in San Diego County reached a peak of more than 9,600. Recently, the Regional Taskforce on the Homelessness, through the most recent Point in Time count data, found more than 7,600 San Diego residents were living in cars, in shelters, and on the street in January 2020.
The numbers from the count conducted on February 24, 2022, won’t be out until later this year. However, reporting indicates street homelessness is surging.
