Young Adult of Church of the Brethren joins

The Church of the Brethren invites young adult members to participate in the National Young Adult Conference (NYAC) 2022 with the theme “I am because We Are” from May 27 to May 30 at Montreat Conference Center, Montreat, Carolina.

The church’s website stated that the said conference provides individuals ages 18 to 25 an opportunity to enjoy fellowship, worship, recreation, and Bible study. They would also be doing service projects and more activities with other young people.

The Theme: I Am Because We Are

“So we, who are numerous, are one body in Christ, and individually we are part of one another,” says Romans 12:5.

According to Becky Ullom Naugle from the Church of the Brethren Newsline, the Young Adult Steering Committee has decided to choose Romans 12:5 as the theme for the NYAC 2022.

Their decision is because of the pandemic and the isolation it has brought to the community.

Naugle added that Christians have many gifts but the same Spirit. She noted that the truth of various gifts deserves focus and study. It is sometimes difficult to know and identify God’s presence in another. But, she revealed that, as the world has learned so painfully over the last couple of years in isolation, God created them to need each other.

More importantly, even if Christians look for some standards and limitations to give them peaceful and healthy living, they still desire to have a gathering. Naugle emphasized that NYAC participants will concentrate on how this reality could be an asset.

At the said conference, they would discuss how young people could be enriched by belonging to a community. Also, they would know their life could be better when they are gathering rather than being separated. Besides, they would answer, what would their life be if they felt empathy for others because of a deep connection through Jesus.

Why Attend Youth Conference

On October 5, 2018, the KLove website posted some benefits of attending Christian Youth Conferences. They stated that the local church had tried more approaches to attract middle-class school and high school kids over the last ten years.

Their reason is that they already realized how valuable it is to build up the next generation. They noted some reasons why Christian youth conferences are still crucial.

First, they noted that youth conferences are a launching pad, which could even be a tool for launching the spiritual lives of young Christians. The website added that due to young conferences, a young individual may deceive to become a pastor, or it may impact which course they choose in college.

Another essential advantage they mentioned is that the said conference could be an opportunity for teenagers to meet like-minded peers. They stated that any family expert would tell how crucial a child’s peers can be. Even the most well-behaved young adult can be negatively affected by a group of friends.

They highlighted that parents would want their children to attend Christian youth conferences where they could find like-minded friends who love God and are dedicated to living a lifestyle different from the world’s standards.
