Calvary Church in San Francisco will hold the Women of Calvary Bible Study on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m.

Celebrating Sabbath

The Bible study is titled "Celebrating Sabbath: Accepting God's Gift of Rest and Delight" and was written by Carol M. Bechtel, according to the church announcement

Laura Mariko Cheifetz provided some suggestions for the leaders of the study.

It also stated that the topic of the Sabbath will be covered in each of the nine lessons that make up this Bible study. These lessons will include readings from the books of Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Isaiah, Matthew, Luke, and Acts.

In the end, the congregation at Calvary believes that the Sabbath serves as a reminder to all people to honor God, who honors them by providing them with a day each week on which they can reevaluate their lives, routines, and priorities.

As per the announcement, Calvary offers an invitation to anyone and everyone to participate in this Bible study with them, regardless of whether they are new to Bible Study or have been a part of this study for years.

Bible Study Books can be purchased for 10 dollars each. However, they demand readers not to allow the price to be a barrier to their spiritual growth.

Community Spiritual Wellness Event

Meanwhile, Calvary Presbyterian Church will also host a Community Spiritual Wellness Event on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 9 a.m.

Calvary welcomes everyone to take some time to refresh their energies, grow their faith, and connect with God through spiritual explorations of sight, sound, taste, and touch before the hectic fall schedule kicks in, as mentioned in another announcement

The Deacons of Calvary are responsible for organizing this event, which aims to nurture everyone. For the duration of the morning, the entire church building serves as their monastery.

About Calvary Presbyterian Church

At Calvary Presbyterian Church, their goal is to cultivate and invigorate their congregation's faith community so that they can change people's lives for Christ.

The realization that in order to assist others, they themselves must first have a firm foundation in their faith and be spiritually nourished Calvary has the dream of being an open church that is thriving, diverse, and inclusive.

They also invite people of all ages, types, and configurations of families, as well as persons in all phases and conditions of life.

As stated on the website, they also have the goal of valuing the traditions of their denomination and honoring Calvary's great history of leadership in their community.

In addition to this, they plan to respond when God leads them in new ways to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

History of Calvary

In July 1854, Calvary was formally established as a church with the help of 63 people, one of whom was the mayor of San Francisco.

Calvary's original location was on Bush Street, between Sansome and Montgomery; five years later, it moved to Union Square.

According to its history, Calvary Church has been meeting at its current location at Fillmore and Jackson Streets since February 1904.

The structure was designated a San Francisco Landmark in 1978 after being included on the National Registry of Historic Places for its significance in the city's history and its survival of the 1906 earthquake.
