City Church in San Francisco will host "The Outward Journey: A Faith and Justice Forum" with Aizaiah Yong on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 12 p.m., in the Russian Center.

Forum on Faith, Justice

City Church considers that an interior journey leads to an outer journey in the spiritual life, and that breathing in and breathing out are both necessary parts of the spiritual life.

According to the church’s announcement, during The Outward Journey: A Faith and Justice Forum, participants will better understand how a relationship with God can propel one's life in a more open direction to the outside world.

The church said it will be accomplished by reviewing how the good news of Christianity is also good news for all individuals.

In addition to the conversation that will take place over lunch on Sunday, Dec. 11, City Church encouraged members of the community to join the Faith and Justice Network to take part in a webinar that Lisa Sharon Harper will lead, gain access to reading materials, have conversations with other individuals, and do a great deal more.

Individuals, churches, and other types of faith communities can take advantage of the theological education and spiritual formation programs that are provided by the Center for Faith and Justice

This effort is carried out in collaboration with establishments of higher education. The network of online communities hosted by the Center for Faith and Justice includes webinars, online conversations, and other useful tools.

According to the website, the way the center works together is based on traditional Christianity worldwide. It means that they leave room for the enigma of a religion that is not limited by distance or time but is firmly established in the experience of living in the here and now.

They hold that a life of faith in Jesus is inseparable from a life of doing justice and that Jesus showed them that a fulfilled life is intimately bound up with a love of neighbor that transcends boundaries.

About City Church

City Church said it will welcome everyone regardless of age, race, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or stage of their spiritual development. Their goal is to become more like Christ so that they can help revitalize San Francisco.

In 1997, City Church was founded in a homeroom in San Francisco's Richmond District. They were a bunch of people, some of whom had been Christians all their lives, while others had only recently been curious about Jesus or had become tired of Christianity altogether.

As stated on its website, even though they have expanded somewhat and moved its gatherings to the Russian Center, the church community still looks the same. They have all been members of the church for many years.

Some are seasoned veterans, while others are returning after a long absence.  The church said no matter where someone is on their spiritual journey, they will find a home at City Church.

City Church gives them a firm basis to build a lifelong faith.
