According to an article published by Spectrum News, the celebration of The Feast of the Assumption started on Aug. 12 as Catholics enjoyed food outside the Holy Rosary Church, where vendors brought their products since the beginning of the four-day celebration.

The Feast of the Assumption is a paramount celebration for the Catholic faith. There are two significant events in the community. These include the Italian Heritage and the transition of the Virgin Mary into the Kingdom of God. The sacred celebration marked its 123rd anniversary today, Aug. 15.

Volunteers of Holy Rosary Church kept busy preparing food for event-goers. Laura Bastulli Parran and her husband, Ted, were among these helpers. Parran talked about the food she cooks every day for the holy event.

Statement of Parran

Laura Bastulli Parran has cooked sauce for food since Friday last week. She uses the kitchen, where she cooks using a wok. Parran said she made sure the sauce was tasteful before other volunteers served. She thanked the spices of Pastor Joseph Previte. Parran stated it helped her to make the sauce perfect for the food.

Her husband, Ted, helps her in another way. He admitted that he had no talent for cooking. However, Ted is assisting her wife by recycling the empty cans Parran used. Also, he kept an eye on the sauce at the booths outside the church. His wife asked him to keep the sauce warm for people to enjoy buying their food.

Sister Helene and other volunteers joined the Parran couple in helping the church in its fundraiser event, The Feast of the Assumption. She and others volunteered to prepare the sausage sandwiches.

Sister Helene said she sliced nearly 70 kilograms of onions for the food. She added that she managed to keep her eyes away from tears.

Little Italy in Cleveland

Little Italy in Cleveland, Ohio, is among the safest neighborhoods in the city. It became Little Italy because many Italians lived in the area before. The Italians nearly filled the community in 1911.

Today, residents enrich the historical value of the community, the Encyclopedia of Cleveland History reported.
