Criswell College in Dallas and the Hispanic Baptist Convention of Texas signed a partnership agreement on Feb. 28 to provide resources and services for Hispanic church leaders.

The Baptist Standard reported that the two partners aim to launch the Centro Pastoral Hispano for Hispanic ministers.

Collaborating to Reach the Same Goal

Convención's executive director Jesse Rincones and Criswell College's vice president and dean of students, Luis Juárez, signed a memorandum of understanding for the Centro Pastoral Hispano. Juárez said Criswell serves Hispanic communities in Texas by making ministry education accessible and supporting individuals in ministry.

According to the Baptist Standard, the leaders from Convención and Criswell plan to open the center at the Texas Baptists' Family Gathering in McAllen, which will take place from July 16-18.

The content on the Centro Pastoral Hispano website will be geared toward improving ministers' lives in the areas of financial security, career advancement, spiritual growth, and leadership and education. The report said it would be available online through the college and Convención platforms.

It was also reported that the center would compile studies and research on Spanish churches, pastors, and ministries and would stay in touch with pastors through monthly emails and social media.

Signed Agreement

Under the terms of the agreement, Convención and Criswell will promote one another.

Per the report, Criswell would launch an exhibition at the annual Convención gathering, a link, and a logo on the Convención website. It would also give presentations to local "compañerimos" and Hispanic churches.

Meanwhile, Criswell would dedicate $10,000 each year to Centro Pastoral Hispano and assign a liaison to coordinate between the two organizations. It would also provide staff support for the Centro Pastoral Hispano website and social media presence.

The Hispanic Baptist Convention of Texas aims to assist its member churches in carrying out the specific God-given mandates of their congregations.

The Convención sees itself as a family of diverse and spiritually healthy churches that are connected and develop resources to make an impact in Texas and the world through the presence of Christ.
