Rev. Dr. Mac Charles Jones, a Phoenix native, died at 47 after having a health problem at Texas airport.

According to an article, after arriving at Dallas-Fort Worth airport, Jones felt a sudden problem with his health. He was rushed to the hospital, where he received medical treatments. He collapsed at the airport before being sent for medical care. However, doctors reported that Jones died because of an embolism.

Jones was scheduled to travel to El Paso, Texas, after leaving Fort Worth airport. He planned to talk with the NCC's Racial Justice Working Group. However, he died and failed to make the trip.

His tragic death leaves heartbreaking news for all of his friends and co-workers. One of his friends for about 13 years, Rev. Sam Mann, shared a story about Jones. He claims that Jones was a man full of dedication and passion for sharing the word of God. He always worked to bring justice for both church and the nation, said Mann.

Mann and Jones worked together, visiting other countries throughout the Southeast. They both visited some of the churches that were being burned back then.

Also, in 1993, they both appeared as co-hosts in Urban Peace and Justice Summit. Additionally, African-Americans and Latino also joined the summit to participate in the peace talks.

Jones worked tirelessly to bring changes to the church and people in the community. He helped give a voice to groups such as homosexuals and Native Americans. he enabled them to be heard by many people, including community leaders.

The Washington State Association of Churches executive minister, Rev. John Boonstra, shares that Jones's work is valuable to the Black community. His work helped bring justice for both the church and the nation. They worked together in the World Council of Churches and NCC.

His friends remembered him as a man with a vision and a life full of excitement. He was married to Jannella Johnson Jones. The couple had a private ceremony. They planned to have a big celebration of their wedding again. Unfortunately, Jones tragically passed away.

National Council of Churches

The National Council of Churches, well-known as NCC, is the largest ecumenical frame in the country. It includes different members like Eastern Orthodox, African –American, and mainline protestant. Also, it has more than 10,000 congregations locally and around 40 million followers.

In 1908, it began working under the name Federal Council of Churches. Jones had an opportunity to work with the NCC. He was able to continue providing aid to the burned churches. Also, he planned for education programs, advocacy, and evangelization. Suddenly, his death left NCC with grief.

The Cause of Death

His doctors declared the embolism as the cause of his death. It is a medical condition where an artery is blocked.

According to a source, the human body's tissue and organs need gas which is oxygen. It requires the right circulation. An embolism occurs when blood is blocked. This condition prevents blood from reaching major organs, including the brain, heart, and lungs. The inability of blood to pass through important internal organs results in their failure to function.
