The Confluence Ministries will hold an event to present brief presentations on how the church might contribute to the mental and emotional health of our community and the city.

Serving Denver

Per the Eventbrite post, the Serving Denver Mental Health event is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

It will reportedly occur at Confluence Ministries, 1400 Quitman St., Denver, CO.

The participants will hear four presentations, each lasting ten minutes, discussing various ways the church may better assist the community's mental health.

After the presentations, there will be a free-for-all conversation.

As mentioned, the following will include forming mental-wellness groups for emotional well-being, regeneration, and addiction care in and through the church, the current mental health crisis and the church's response, and the practices of congregational soul care.

In addition, Brad Whitehouse, Debbie Swanson, and Kimberly Britt will be the event's speakers.

Whitehouse is reportedly the director of the regeneration at Mission Hills.

Moreover, Swanson is a Denver Seminary professor who teaches courses on Christian formation and soul care. She also runs a soul care organization called Vacare Deo, through which she provides spiritual direction.

Kimberly Britt is the executive director of My Quiet Cave, an organization devoted to the formation of safe groups for mental health.

Importance of Mental Health

Emotional, psychological, and social well-being are all components of mental health. It affects how people think, feel, and behave.

It also plays a role in determining how people respond to stressful situations, interact with other people, and make healthy food choices.

Moreover, mental health is essential to take care of one's mental health throughout one's entire life, beginning in childhood and continuing through adulthood.

Poor mental health and mental illness are not the same, even though those terms are frequently used synonymously. A person can have poor mental health without a diagnosable mental disorder.

Similarly, a person diagnosed with a mental disorder can go through times in which they are in good physical, mental, and social health.

Both mental and physical well-being are critical to an individual's health and well-being.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there is a connection between having healthy mental faculties and having positive mental and psychological well-being.

Their commitment includes the protection of human rights, the promotion of mental well-being, the prevention of mental disorders, and the care of people who are affected by mental illnesses.
