'The District' in Lafayette

As stated on its official Facebook page, The District is a community-inspired shopping center. Instead of opening another strip mall in the city, Flatirons reportedly created a community gathering place.

'The District' was aimed to be a place where people from all walks of life could shop for goods and hang out, the church said. They also envisioned it to be a relaxing place for recreation areas to work or meet new people.

The church built the roughly 53,000 square-foot community mall in 1984. It is located six acres south of the Flatirons Community Church main campus.

The report further stated that The District is 100 percent leased to 10 tenants. Some of the stores in the community marketplace include a coffee shop, a brewing company, a sandwich store, a grocery store, and a bank.

It is also home to the Flatirons Community Church office and a coworking space area.
