Youth for Christ (YFC) North Colorado now reopens to serve the younger generation in Greeley through its indoor skatepark.

As reported, for the past two decades, the church's Colorado Refuge, or called 'The Refuge,' became a place for the youth of Greeley to express their love for the sport.

Now, the recreation center reopens to the public without a mask mandate for all participants.

While masks and registration are not mandatory, they demand visitors sign a waiver of consent before entering the skatepark. Participants ages 18 and below must have a legal parent or guardian to sign the waiver.

Additionally, The Refuge requires players to wear helmets inside the park. In case they do not own one, individuals can borrow the available helmet for free.

Colorado Refuge

As stated on its official website, the indoor skatepark is a part of the Northern Colorado YFC initiative.

The faith-based opened its doors to the youth in 2001. According to The Refuge, the park aims to provide a place where youngsters can do what they love while expressing the love of Jesus.

"The Refuge is not about religion or Sunday church, it is about living out a life focused on Jesus and worshipping him in the things that God created us to have passion for," the website reads

Through the indoor skatepark, YFC envisions seeing a community of Christ-followers living their faith. They look forward to growing in the worship of God in "passionate, practical, and applicable ways."

The entrance fee at The Refuge starts at $6 for a two-hour playtime. It is reportedly opens every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Instead of paying the required fees every Friday, participants are urged to attend a 15-minute mid-session talk.

Skateboard Lessons

As mentioned, The Refuge offers private skateboard lessons. The coaches tailor each session to what the participants need.

According to YFC, the youth-oriented skateboard lessons provide a "safer, directed, and faster learning experience."

Coaches reportedly attempt to provide a 'no bump, no bruise' lesson style in the center. They do this by breaking down the basics of skateboarding and urging players to maximize their potential minus the risk of injuries.

The Refuge also offers both private and group skateboard lessons.

Meanwhile, group lessons are available in two seasons every year. It usually occurs from March to April and August to September.

The Refuge Skate League

Every season, The Refuge organizes a Skate League for every skateboard enthusiast in and outside Greeley.

YFC said that the league aims to develop a love for skateboarding within families with little to no exposure to the sport. It also serves as a next-level challenge to those who have been skating for a long time.

As stated on the website, the Skate League is not only a competition among players. It is also an opportunity to learn the basics and develop players' styles. YFC assures that players will acquire new skills and gain new friends after each season.

The Refuge Skate League is open to three different divisions. The recreational league division for beginners, competitive league for intermediate players, and pro-league for professionals.
