Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Princeton to welcome Rev. David Jay Webber as new pastor

Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Princeton, MN, welcomes Rev. David Jay Webber as the church's new pastor. Webber will be installed at the 4 p.m. service on Sunday, Aug. 14, which Rev. Luke Ulrich will officiate.

Pastor Webber's son, Rev. Paul Webber of West Jordan, Utah, and Pastor Webber's son-in-law, Rev. Andrew Soule of Belview, Minnesota, from Princeton, will assist Ulrich, the visitor of Circuit 9 of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod, at the ceremony of installation of Webber. 

The Reverend Webber was born and raised in Germantown, New York. King's College awarded him a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. 

Concordia Theological Seminary conferred him a Master of Divinity degree, and the Institute of Lutheran Theology awarded him a Master of Sacred Theology degree.

According to the Union-Times, in the past, Webber has held positions as pastor of Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri; pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, Massachusetts; rector and professor of theology at Saint Sophia Ukrainian Lutheran Theological Seminary in Ternopil', Ukraine, among others. 

The report also stated that the Rev. Webber is an accomplished author and presenter in religion, history, and scholarly genealogy. In addition, he has worked as a professor in both India and Kenya seminaries.

Recent publications include three chapters that Webber authored for the book "Here We Stand: A Confessional Christian Study of Worldviews," published in 2010 by Northwestern Publishing House.

According to his bio, in 2013, he also had a book of a more substantial nature published under the title Spiritual Fathers: A Treatise on the Lutheran Doctrine of the Ministry, with Special Reference to Luther's Large Catechism.

It also stated that internet users from every corner of the globe frequently visit Webber's websites, which cover topics such as Lutheran theology, Saint Ambrose, his family's genealogy, the life and accomplishments of William Bradford, and the history of the 150th and the 86th New York Infantry, respectively. 

Webber has a dry sense of humor, doesn't get enough exercise, and his go-to drink of choice is a pre-mixed red wine from a box. He is a person who likes cats, enjoys reading old novels, and drinks freshly brewed coffee.

Carol Wimble, the organist at Redeemer, and Webber have been married for 38 years. Reverend Paul, Sarah, and Catharine are their three grown children. 

Webber is well-known for his appreciation of the works of St. Ambrose of Milan, Martin Chemnitz, Charles Porterfield Krauth, and Hermann Sasse, as well as the films of John Wayne, Morgan Freeman, Harrison Ford, and Jeff Daniels. 

He also likes the music of Hieronymus Praetorius, Michael Praetorius, Felix Mendelssohn, and John Michael Talbot.
