This year's annual rosary procession began in 1947 in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and will continue on Oct. 7 from the state Capitol to the Cathedral of Saint Paul. The procession, which Bishop Joseph Williams will lead, will start at 7 p.m.

76th Annual Rosary Procession

According to Father Tom Margevicius, who serves as the director of worship for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, individuals who cannot walk the path of the procession can instead proceed immediately to the Cathedral to recite the rosary as others walk the route.

The celebration is brought to a close at the Cathedral with prayers to Mary, adoration of the Eucharist, and Benediction.

In addition, Father Margevicius reminded those listening to check in to the Family Rosary Across America program that airs weeknights at 7 p.m. on Relevant Radio. Meanwhile, as reported by The Catholic Spirit, according to Father Margevicius, praying with a rosary in one's hands helps one remain attentive.

He emphasized that one's internal state of mind is not the only determining factor in having faith. That this cannot be solved merely in one's head. Holding on, touching, and moving things are all part of the praying process, not just a state of mind.

In addition, Father Margevicius mentioned that one of the reasons why reciting the rosary is such an effective prayer is because it engages more of a person's identity than only their memory or intellect.

In his further explanation, as per the report, Father Margevicius stated that the Blessed Mother was present at the foot of the cross and that she was not scared to be with everyone in their darkest and most terrible moments.

Even more, he recommended that keeping a rosary on one's person at all times, even when one was not praying, was a powerful way to cling to one's faith and to place one's confidence in the protective motherhood of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, in conjunction with the Family Rosary Processions Association, is the primary sponsor of this year's 76th annual rosary procession.
